Rep Power: 0 | Considering switching from minutes to points for the simple fact that we think it might be easier to have customers pay for points and use whatever levels of beds (accordingly) Just wondering do you still charge a fair skinned or new tanner(ie. 6min) the same points as a regular tanner (ie. 20 min)if they were to go in the same type of bed? If so this does not seem fair. Please enlighten us! |

Rep Power: 25 | Points could be used either based on Minutes or Sessions. You could set your system to deduct from the Points "bucket" based on either a fee for a Session or based on a fee per minute of tanning. Your choice ... using Helios you can actually even vary that by bed, some by the Session (Value/S) and others by Minute (Value/T). I suggest you think of Points as just Prepaid Tanning Dollars and then adopt the appropriate method for each bed and/or bed type. Hope this helps. _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2003-02-08 11:57 ] |

Rep Power: 20 | We've been macroanalyzing our business over the past year, and in fact it really doesn't matter whether the client goes 5 minutes or 15 minutes, the cost to service that client is generally fixed, and the operating costs for the bed is generally the same - with the exception that of course the salon owner obviously pays a little more for wear and tear, electricity and the like on the longer session. |

Rep Power: 20 | Well, it is important to understand that the cost to service a client who is going 8 minutes is the same as the cost to service a client who is going 15 minutes. For soooo long, ultaviolet entrepreneurs have under estimated cost to produce/provide a service resulting in clients expectations of a cheap tan, and sacrifice by salon owners in ROI to attract the low end tanner. Visa vie "Is $8 truly a fair price for a 15/20 minute tan? Are you really making a fair ROI?". My banker says no. |

Rep Power: 20 | Oh, babbling again... sorta off-this-topic-but... And now, due to inexperienced ultraviolet entrepreneurs, salon owners are pushed by clients, and tugged by tanning bed manufacturing companies to always offer the latest and greatest - to continously drive interest in the salon itself. As you look around you, other businesses of retail and service orientation - ask yourself this question: "At the core, how often are these service and retail businesses innovating? Reinventing themselves?" Further, do hair salons replace every stylist station every two years with a newer more exciting stylist station? Do day spas replace pedicure tables every three years with a nicer pedicure station? Do grocery stores replace freezers every five years with a newer hydrating freezer? Does Target replace critical store fixtures every three years? Do furniture retailers reinvent the display floor every three years? Much like the car, the moment you walk out the door with the new tanning bed, your banker values the equipment at 50% of retail. Your clients expect a generous discount when buying in bulk on this new unit. Every use submits the equipment to limitless wear and tear. The larger the discount, the more often the unit will be used. The more it is used, on and on and on... Is is sensible, then to swap tanning equipment out every three years? Do you guys do that? Or do I just need to go to bed and rest a while? |
