I read the thread about this being the slow season. I have only been in business about 5 weeks anyway, so I opened in the slow season. But, I am wondering, when you say slow, how slow do you mean? How many packages a week and single tanners are you getting? Just wondering if I am slower than most.

If you are new, you probably only have 10 to 30 customers max. But it varies from state to state. During this time I average in sales about 400.00 or more a day. When I opened 2 years ago, I averaged 50.00 to 150.00 a day. I opened in the month of June. During season as we call it, I can average 600.00 or more a day in sales. I see about 20 to 60 clients a day now, in season 120 to 200 a day.

Right now, with 10 beds, we are seeing about 75 people a day. It is actually better than this time last year but we have added new beds so it makes comparison a little harder. September and October are usually our slowest months. Fortunately, our closest high school has their BIG prom in the fall so that helps us alot in late October and early Nov.
5 weeks? Wow! Good luck! Busy season WILL get here. Use this time to learn all you can. Are you going to Nashville? It is a great learning time especially for new owners.

I am in nj and because of the strang pattern of weather this year I am doing very well for August. Last night we did 156 people and made $1974.02 in the one store, And $1029.00 with 90 people in my other store. It all depends on where you are located.

When they say slow, beleive it!!!! I have been in business 15 months and last "slow season" almost cleaned me out, BUT. . .hang in there, it does get better. All the hard work, sweat and tears is worth it in the end. I am a small salon, 5 beds, during my busy time I have 90 - 100 people a day and right now I am seeing 35 - 40, but it is better than last August.

I am in Kentucky and I am REALLY slow on weekends. I read in tanning mags that that is normal! I thought it would be just the opposite. My best days I make just over 100 dollars a day, somedays I only make 15-20! That makes me worry!! I knew I was opening in slow season, but my goal was to try and get established by the time tanning season picks up. I have new customers everyday, so I'm not complaining much. Also, I just spent the bucks doing my first advertising-radio-and it starts next week. I'm expecting to pick up quite a bit. Thanks for the post and the support!! Yes, Pam, I am going to Nashville.. very excited. Hope to meet new people, I'm probably leaving the boyfriend behind and going alone. Any single cuties?? LOL

We have a 6 bed salon in a small central PA town and we have been having a fairly busy August. During the week we are averaging 60 to 70 tanners a day. With the rainy weather this summer I think it has helped business.

We are tanning an average of 160 people a day. We have 11 beds and a Mystic. In busy season we average mid 300's. We are in our second year and are up over 50% from last summer. Hang in there, it only gets better!!

This month has slowed down for us. We averaged about $900/day this month but at the height of the season in april and may we are at about $2000/day. That was at 11 beds and no mystic. I hope this is the norm and we don't drop in our third year.
