I have that Several large companies have left Light Source. Tan America which had used Light Sources for years is now going to their rival competition Voltarc! http://www.voltarc.com/Tanning.htm Anyone else know more details on this? I was told that both Light Sources and Voltarc are based in Connecticut and are rival competitors. | |

Rep Power: 23 | Light source has lost about 20% of their tanning business within the past 6 months. They also have let several people go including their top tanning man.I think they are trying to move more of their manufacturing business to the lighttech plant. So far they have lost Tan America ESB,four seasons. Also hear Heraeus is looking for someone else to make their lamps. |

Rep Power: 23 | Chunn, Light Sources is still the number 1 choice for OEM applications. Light Sources Inc makes 50+ private label brands for OEM's & Distributors such as: Black Sun, Brillance, Genesis, Puretan, SunBronze & International Tan Makers. Lighttech Inc(LSI Hungary) makes 60+ OEM lamps.Including: Hereaus, Sportarredo, Sunfit, & New Technology. The reason some people are switching is that LSI opened up the compatibility market by making some of thier most popluar lamps compatible to some of the OEM lamps. Many salons were fed up paying high prices from bed manufacturers on lamps & wanted a similar lamp at a better price. So instead of loosing sockets to other lamp makers LSI felt that they could gain more by providing compatibilty to the popular OEM lamps. And it has worked well.(Ask Sam) Here is a breakdown of other lamp makers. Voltarc has about 5 private label brands including Heartland, Tan America & Four Seasons. Interelectric has 2 or 3 private label lamps such as Desert Viking. Narva Germany has 15 +/- private label lamps all being sold over sees. Osram/Sylvania- Makes Cosmedico & Wolff branded lamps & also Co-branded lamps for ETS, Sonnenbraune, & PC marketing. Philips Lighting has 18 +/- private labels for OEMS & distributors. As you can see LSI is a leader in the pack & they have some very new & exciting lamps coming out in the near future. I'm sure some who have switched will be wishing they never had. |
