Why should this situation surprise you?

This is SOP (standard operating procedure) when an industry is undergoing rapid change.

Rather than face the reality of the change and deal with it, the OBN (old boy network) ALWAYS tries to maintain the status quo!

It won't work now.

It has never worked!

Change WILL occur. The only thing that the OBN will be able to affect is the "rate of change of change" but not the change itself.

What should be PERFECTLY clear is that this situation (which is probably illegal and certainly unethical!) comes about as a direct result of the fact that the OBN was successful in hijacking the trade shows.

Arrogance, my friends, breeds more arrogance.

NOW, they want to tell you who to buy from by telling you who you CAN'T buy from.

IF they are successful in telling you who to buy from, they will tell you how much you MUST pay for things.

At issue here is whether or not tanning salon owners want to protest this dastardly deed or just roll over and accept what is happening (we are being raped!). If enough people are willing to protest, we can use the Ask Don E-Message system to "send a message" to the OBN when (like this) they step out of line. [Note: Based upon the fact that only a few people have been willing to take a few seconds to send a message to the Orlando Sentinel, I am not optimistic that our peers have the "will" to protest.]

Most people will (sadly) just "roll over" and accept the inevitable "rape of their right to choose" (what can we do, what can we do, they will cry!) but others (myself included) will "send a checkbook message" by not stocking products from the OBN manufacturers who pull this crap next season and I will refuse to patronize the distributors who are "part and parcel" of this outrage!

Will they care if they lose the business from our four stores? No.

Will they care if they lose the business from 400 small tanning salons? No, but they will start to worry.

Will they care if they lose the business from 4,000 small tanning salons? You betcha, Lone Ranger and they will try to "spin" their way out of the mess that THEY created!

SOMEDAY (not now but someday) tanning salon owners will "band together" and take control of THEIR industry. When that day comes (and it will!), this kind of crap will end!

I have not seen Aust.Gold in walmart in a very long time. True it is in Fla but not in Georgia. I do know for a fact if you do find it all you need to do is call ETS and within a few hours they will have it pulled. This happened to me several years ago.

It is early for me to comprahend all this, but my first thought is "What the **** do they think BigDog is?"

Bigdog does not sell to individuals via the internet. It sells to Salon Owners ONLY! For petes sale ETS get you facts correct.

I am a small owner of a 13 bed salon, I purchase the products I want and Yours is NOT one of them and with this action you have taken YOU WILL NEVER BE IN MY SALON! Simple as that you have allienated ever reaching me again.

I agree with Don, we must stick together and make a loud voice to all the Powers that be.
So Don, I will support a mass email campaign should you set it up. Even though I do not use AG/SB it is still the princable I am fighting.

Frankie, you seem to know your business pretty well, but you should know that action such as this is not the same as flea market and www.lotion.com. Big Dog is verified salon owners only. This is what surprises me with ETS' action. They are completely wrong on this one.

Sad day for salon owners and Bad day for ETS.

Frankie.... you have always been easily swayed by what the boyz tell you.... I am overly suspicious of any boy..... somewhere in the middle ~ is the perfect ground.

You need to open your mind to others that are deeply affected by this smackdown on the abilities and the rights of the small business owner to USE the distributor of their choice.....

I gotta tell you - - - I recently had a chance to chat with Bill Pipp of ETS and he is a charasmatic individual and likeable....
Shortly after speaking with Bill I literally started to reconsider my dropping of the ETS lines....

So ~ here I am......impressed with what Bill has to tell me about ETS and the committment to Salons (especially the smaller players) and no longer peeed off about homes unit sales....... and then this!!!!

Frankie - - this in nothing short of strong arm business pressure being placed upon ETS by the 2 big Distribution companies...... I agree with Don ~ that it is a rape of the salon owners in the BigDog Buyers Group... and will reach further love...... it will effect you and others as the industry changes... and the big boys eat the little boys..... and the big salons survive but only because little salons go ****-up.... and Anti Tan will have money falling out of their pockets to promote medically supervised exposures in your doctor's office - - thank you for the co-pay Mrs. B.......

Chunnster ~ get me the names of the players baby ..... I do not want to make anymore 'deposits' into the wrong bank accounts...... My check book is small - - but my mouth is freeking big.....

I never give gold stars to anyone for doing what they are SUPPOSED to do......be it a postcard, a goo that works, a lamp that lights...... and ETS gets no gold star for helping Frankie a few years back on a bottle of goo.......

Man this sh** has me nutz!!!

They have the false belief that if they don't live in Florida then the arcticle wont affect them. They fail to realize that in the long run it affect us all, owners and cutomers alike.

This issue is different. I think that even those who are not BD members will still be willing to join the army if there is a form letter ready to be sent pertaining to this ETS and Big Dog issue.

Give the slackers here another chance. Maybe this time will be different and others will get involved.

Shelia don`t get on my back so soon. I am willing to help in any way I can. I said I don`t agree with what ETS has done. I will send Bill Pipp an email and he will have it Monday morning. I want to see what his response is to this before I jump to any conclusions. Be patient. If this is a legal issue then we need to know what it is.

As for me looking out for myself you bet your sweet pa-tootie I will. I am not one to sit around and wait for someone else to do it for me. That does not mean I will not step in to help others that are in trouble or getting a raw deal.

I am not just out for Frankie but when something is coming down on my bread and butter I will fight. I will fight just as hard for anything I believe to be true and what I believe in.

I do not see the logic in any of this but before I start calling people names and jumping to conclusions I want to hear "THEIR" side. I want to talk to Sam James too. I have not been able to speak with him as of yet.

I find it odd that you would be so eager to take the Defense Side of this issue....(in defense of the powers that drive the ITA, the Nashville Show and the MFGs ability to sell shi* to us).... Whatever..... I guess unless I can get the Bucks to stock a ton of AG in the Flea ~ you will not be unhappy.

As I already KNOW that the premise of WHAT BigDog Buyers Group REALLY is.... I cannot understand why you would allude that is is Internet Sales...... Only a stupid person would come to that conclusion ~ or one that had an agenda to fulfill by claiming it was so.

Salon Owners are getting Wiser - thanks to the websites that offer the education that they NEED to get beyond what their Industry Publications and Organizations are FEEDING THEM.

Salon Owners have the largest amount of numbers in comparison to anyother group in the industry.

Don is telling us ~ we need to unite those numbers and gain the ability to just say "no to bullcrap agendas ~ ~ NO to bullcrap speakers at shows ~ ~ and possibly NO to MFG sponsored shows"--and just get an educational venue set up for us to attend

Sick of being manipulated......Sick of being bullied.....Sick of the inability of the Power Structure to provide me with an environment FREE OF bullcrap attacks on my services......

What is happening with this issue is just shy of criminal.....price fixing already is against the law - - - applied pressure to the distributors on the prices there fore is against the law - - - and powerful flexing of Distributor Muscle to kill off the competition ~ ~ ~ might not be against the law - - but I would never do business with a freeking bully.
