This sounds really tempting to me, but I'm on a tight budget right now. Is it worth the money?

yes and no
they don't seem to be nearly as active as they used to be.

Good information and education will always help you out.

I say yes.

I have been a member since right after I opened, anytime I ever had a question they would answer it, they always answer emails.

The more you educate yourself the better. If there are no other certified salons in your area, this would be a way to have a leg up on the competition.

I am the only certified salon in my town. My customers are being to learn there is more to tanning than someone just purchasing a tanning bed and selling visits.

Had a new customer call today and she's wanting a tan by her wedding end of December. After I gave her a brief explanation of how she could achieve her goal and talked about the lotions that could help with that she asked:

What hours are you there? I want to come in, but I want to be sure you're there so I can learn about all this.

You can also get your local paper to do a feature article on you when you get your certification. I wrote my article and took it to the paper along with a picture when I became certified.

yes join by all means. it not only gives you a more creditable salon, but you can keep training your employees all year long.

Thanks for all of your replies. Really I think I was already sold after checking out their web page, I just needed someone to help me justify spending the money. I called them about an hour ago.

As for employees, I don't have any yet. I'm sure that by March I'll be wishing I did but for now I will have to wait.
