Here is an update on a story TanTalk.com broke to the online communities October 31, 2001. The original post http://www.tantalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=2320436&forum=1&17 refers to Lewiestanning.com that was selling the NEW California Tan lotions on the web. Max Recone from California Tan immediately began the process of tracking down how the lotion got diverted to Lewis Johnson ( lewiestanning.com ). Turns out that Mr. Johnson's wife owns a beauty salon with a single tanning bed. This qualifies as a salon owner! The actual diversion happened in the hands of a salon owner! Mr. Johnson will face legal actions from California Tan, Inc. It's interesting that he still have the lotion for sale on his website! Maybe he's doesn't have a web page editor. It turns out that TW TAN, Saint Cloud, MN ( www.tanninglotions.com ) was the distributor that the California Tan lotion was purchased from. According to Mark Oslund, President of TW Tan, once they noticed the posting as lewistanning.com they began researching their records to see if they had sold the product to this person. They used register.com to retrieve more information on lewistanning.com they were able to cross reference the address to a Johnson's Tanning Salon, which had purchased less than $100 of products. I verified this information with California Tan today. My question for Mr. Oslund was what methods are they using to help prevent diversion in the tanning industry. Mr. Oslund says that information sharing is one of the best ways they have found. ETS released a list of people that were known to be selling products on the Internet. TW Tan used this list to prevent his company from supplying these individuals. Mr. Oslund supports California Tan 100% on what they are doing to fight the diversion. He said that it would take the whole industry working together to fight diversion. I really enjoyed speaking to Mr. Oslund. He was sincere in his concern about the diversion issues that face our industry. | |

Rep Power: 28 | Like I have said time and again. If the distributors would take the time to verify the salons exsitence before selling and shipping they could avoid mishaps of this sort. Hey you guys here at tantalk do it before someone is given access to the Salon Owners forum. I know this can be a time consuming project, but isn't stopping diversion worth it to all of us? |

Rep Power: 0 | Okay, here is a good question. How can a 1 bed beauty salon purchase less than $100 of Can Tan products at a low enough price that they can resale them to the public at salon cost and still make a profit? Am I missing something or what??????????????? |
