Rep Power: 24 | I just got off the phone with someone I met at the show and naturally the subject of our conversation was the show. Anyway she asked me did you see the people thaty brought there kids to the show so they can get more free stuff? And I was telling her I didn't even think twice about it until she said that but when I was at the body invest booth the guy gave a speech and then scanned our cards well there was a woman thete with 2 kids in front of me they were maybe 10 years old and 12 years old, and they each got the gift pack. To my recolection this is the only example I can remember. Did anyone else see this? Is that a freebie volture or what? I don't believe in bringing kids to the trade show unless you seriously don;t have a sitter, but I feel that the trade show floor is not a place for strollers babies, and kids. |

Rep Power: 0 | I didn't notice any kids getting samples but I did notice how many kids were there. We even had 2 kids in the certification class. Now they didn't cause any distrubance or anything but they must have been bored stiff! No fun for them. Drew and I have 5 kids between us ranging from 8-23. We include them in most everything we do. However, we do have parameters on where taking them with us is right or not. And I don't think a trade show is an appropriate event for children. But everyone has their own opinions. |

Rep Power: 24 | Last year, we did take Austin with us to Nashville, but he hung with my husband at all the Nascar places and stuff at the Opryland Mall while I did the trade show thing. It was his birthday after all, so I didn' want to leave him home, but at the same time, the trade show is not a kid friendly event. Nor should it be. I saw a lady with 2 girls about the age you described. They kept coming by Greg's booth asking for samples. Tacky, imho. |

Rep Power: 0 | Thursday wasn't too bad, but from Friday on, I remembered seeing alot of same people from the previous days, just stopping by, not wanting to know about anything we did, but just to see what we had for FREE, - one lady even kept her story about "....my husband & son are here too, purchasing beds while I walk the floor. Can I have one for each of them too?" I had mentioned that I remembered her from the day before, but still ended up giving her the bags. I mean, what can you do & not something happen in front of everyone? The kids hit me up hard Saturday.... "My mom sent me over to see what you had...can I have one for my Dad too?" I just took it in the gut & made sure they left happy. Although this is the main reason we run out of the freebies, most of them want to hoard everything so they can just sell them when they get back home. Will giving them what they want do any business for us? Probably nothing, since most of who attended expected everyting to be free just for attending in the first place. |

Rep Power: 0 | Nothing against kids, I have two 17 & 12 but the trade show is really no place for kids. Not so much the freebies, but it is too crowded, conference hall too big, and mostly because the trade show is a place to conduct business. I personally did not have any "bad" experiences due to a child being there but I would not want to have to deal with mine at a time like that. |

Rep Power: 24 | My husband and I were discussing this last night, we just got married in August, so he was saying well what if your pregnant next year are we still going, my response was yes as long as I wasn't about to drop the kid right then. Then he said what if we have a brand new baby, my response was if the baby is brand new we will skip the show. Then he asked what if we had like a 2 year old, then we would leave him or her at home.. |

Rep Power: 27 | Oh yeah, I commented to my partner, pam that gee i wouldn't want to try to keep up with the kids at an event like this. i don't think small children should be subjected to this. you know it was boring for them. I overheard a lady that said she brought 20 girls in to get the free stuff. she even had them get organized out in the hallway and each had a direction to hit and then reverse the plan in order to get all the freebies they could... bad taste. |

Rep Power: 23 | I moved this because it seems that not only is it a popular topic... but one that we all seemed to really sit up and take notice. I distinctly recall telling several women with newborn babies how brave I thought they were for bringing them to the show. If I had a newborn, I would skip it... even with my pack of three kids, had I not been working for Greg and wanting to attend, I still would have made other arrangements. IMHO I do not feel a trade show in a proper place for kids to be... period! |
