Okay now, we have two major lotion companies willing to fight tooth and nail to stop diversion. Isn't that great!!! Now with CalTan and John Abate' willing to stop selling to beauty supply and keeping track of where their products are going do you think we are out of the woods yet? No we are not! Why? you may ask. Well think of all the tanning beds that companies like ETS sells for home use. Do you think that is all the customer gets, just the bed? Of course not. They get their lotions as well and can do repeat buying of their lotions from these companies. So therefore they are in the diversion game big time. For instance, one of my former employees (which I love dearly and do not hold this against her) bought her own bed for tanning at home. No problem with that, BUT, she also gets her lotions from a former distributor of mine. Now this guy knows she is a home tanner. So why does he sell lotions to her at salon cost? Is this not diversion also? I think so. Shouldn't we try to stop this from happening just as we are trying to stop flea markets, internet, etc.

In my honest opinion any distributor that sells to a home tanner is just as bad as the guy with the cart in the mall, on the internet and in the flea markets.

I don't fault them for selling a person a tanning unit. I have friends with beds and it doesn't bother me in the least. Some will still come to a salon to use upgrade beds on occasion. What makes me see red is they can get the products at wholesale and that takes a sale from me. Not to mention all their friends they buy for.

So I am asking for cooperation from ALL companies that sell tanning units to home tanners to please consider this practice:
If Jane Doe comes in to purchase a tanning unit and she says it is for her own personal use in her home sell it to her. As a fair compromise to us salon owners, REFER her to a salon in her area for all her lotion needs.
Now that's not asking a lot is it? You are making money on the bed and we are losing a tannning client. So you could at least give us the product business. We are going to purchase our products from you anyway so this way we all win. Let's fight to make diversion a thing of the past and keep our industry growing strong with integrity and professionalism.

I was at the nashville show and sat in on the presentation for australian gold and Swedish beauty products. they talked about fighting diversion also the topic of Florida selling their products came up and that was one of the reasons I sat in on that presentation was to ask about That. They said they only sold S.P.F. products in the state of Florida. if any thing else was being sold it was not thru them. I wonder. We sell a lot of there products and they are good products. Now I just dont know what to Believe. We sell the spf products also and what we saw in Florida was Huge displays everywhere of in door tanning products . I Live in Texas so it is not bothering me here but if they start that here it would put us out of business. I hope they get on board and clean that problem up

If it is a Salon Formula it should stay in the salon. I also sell spf for people going on vacations. If JA, Caltan, SB AG any company sells to people other than salons it is diversion. Now we know that the key is to get the distributors that are letting these lines out the door.

I visited my Publix store tonight and saw plenty of Australian Gold Indoor tanning products for sale there including Accelerator Lotion for just $5.99 retail!

I hope they would not lie like that in their presentations. I think that if ETS wanted to protect tanning salon owner profits from diverson they would stop all retial sales of Australian Gold tanning products in Florida!

I was in a tanning salon in Chicago, when a tanner brought in a bottle of Australian Gold from Florida. the funny think was moments before an ETS exeuctive that was also there just finished saying that Florida Austrailian Gold products are never a problem outside of Florida!

I have heard they sell retail in Florida, Texas, California and several other states. I will do some research into this. Does anyone have facts to back this up?

Are you kidding??? You can go into any CVS here in New Jersey and buy Australian Gold right off the shelf... and it isn't just their SPF either. You can buy the indoor tanning salon formula!!

Good Grief! How can they do this and look us straight in the face at the show and say they are NOT doing that!

I know it's a foreign concept... but it's called "lying". Actually unless they put it in print, they aren't breaking any laws. The moment they advertise it or put it in print, then we got them! But until then they can say anything they like. It's just up to salon owners to believe them or not.

Are there lot #'s or serial #'s on the products? If so, it would be possible to ask for a product history, since they should know where each lot went. I would assume that lot #'s would be manditory, in case of a product recall (misslabeled ingrediants, defective product, anthrax, etc...).

When I was in Florida a couple months ago, I saw AG everywhere! And for less than I pay.

I have also had some of my clients come in with Ag they purchased in Florida and announce that they bought a bunch of it to bring back for family and friends cuz the price is SO much cheaper than ours. (That was prior to dumping it from our line up)

Bottom line is that they are full of crap.
