How do you get it across to people that they can not come in 3-5 days before going to the beach/vacation and get tanned enough to keep from frying out there. I tell them over and over and just doesn't sink in....I try to sell them a high SPF and bottle of Cal-Tan Insurance for the trip. Cause the are def. going to need it...

Buntanner,Believe me they just don't get it. I try to get people in at least a month before a vacation but then they say oooh that's too much time...

They don't get it because they think they know it all and you (who just happens to be standing behind the desk by sheer coincidence)don't know anything. Let's list some more:1. "No, I don't want to go in the big bed, I'll burn."2. "I paid for my membership, so now I'm coming every day."3. "I don't want to use that tanning accelerator, I'll burn."Then there are the ones who say they're not getting any darker but won't buy a tanning lotion. And those to whom you explain and explain and explain the programs and when they fianlly ask a question you can tell they weren't listening at all. SO you explain again and again and again... And on and on and on...forever and ever, to the last syllable of recorded time.

Oh yes Gene you hit it right on...And the ones that are casper white, insist on tanning the full 20 min. the very 1st time, because they are leaving for the beach in the morning. lol

Well... I gotta tell you that casper was at the beach yesterday! I spent the afternoon out at the Jersey shore and these people hurt my eyes. Not because they are white, but because they are so friggen red! I just want to run up and smother them with sunblock! Two of my children brown like marshmellows, but the third is almost clear. We apply 30 sunblock to him like it's going out of style and he never burned! The other two get it too, but need it applied about 1/3 as often. Why do people torture themselves like that? I am the most golden tan I've ever been and I still put on sunblock! How can they do that to their poor, defenseless, pastey white skin??? There were at least 10 people I wanted to run up to and just throw sunblock on them. I think I'll get a supersoaker this summer and fill it with sunblock so I can squirt them when they walk past me.

NOT TRUE! UVA/B Exposure from a tanning unit provides sun protection just as tanning in the outdoors. Still use sunscreen whether you tan indoors or out depending on the amount of sun you are receiving. Bronze , That's funny!

Laurie, I like your supersoaker idea! Littlebird, I am proof positive that tanning beds help your skin against burning. I have fair skin and have spent my whole life on a burn cylce. Burn, peel, back to white, burn, peel, back to white etc.... But now that I have been tanning I have nice color and have not been burning. My life revolves around outdoor activities and so I am outside alot. One day at a ball game when I forgot my sunscreen I only turned a little red and it went away by the next day and best of all...it never hurt! Normally I would have been very burnt.

The only thing I have to say is Thank God for indoor tanning.I am like Becky burn, peel, white.I'm not one to jump at a new thing when it comes along. So I didn't actually get in to tanning till about three years ago.I thought I would be snow white the rest of my life.My first experiance was not good.Had an operater tell me it was OK to lay about ten min. first time.BAD IDEA.She was supposed to be professial so I trusted her.Shopped around and preety much same as other salon. So I took matters into my own hands.I told them how long I would be staying.Never as long as they suggesred. Now I am actually tan.Never thought I would see it.Just felt like sharing. Della
