Less tan 15% of the tanning industry supports the ITA??

Recently we sat down with a rep from our distributor that we have used for the last 11years. We were informed of some very staggering numbers that many of you may not be aware of. As a whole of the tanning industry, salon owners, distributors and manufactors, a staggering less than 15% support and belong to the ITA. The very group that is fighting for our customers rights to tan and fights on the front lines to help keep our doors open so we can continue to provide for our family is not being supported. We find it amazing that less than 15% of this industry is willing to invest in our industries future? Think of this, if even 50% actually supported the ITA what could have been done to fight the tan tax? DO YOU BELONG TO THE ITA? Are you concerned about the future of this industry?

Salon Touch Activation code

We purchased a salon in April with Salon Touch software. No problems with it. We installed on office/home pc so we can review data after backing up at salon periodically. It appears somehow it picked up that we installed software in April and now at the 6 month mark it is telling us we either need key or an activation code.

The key stays at salon. I have tried uninstalling all software from pc and reinstalling thinking it would buy us another 6 months but still stating we need an activation code.

We have the license number but that is not what looking for. I am sure there are many users of Salon Touch who back up to view information from other location.

If I call they will just give me the run around and tell me I need to upgrade which I do not want or need to.

Anyone know the work around who can help? I am sure easy fix but I can not figure out.

Thanks

Industry professionals! The place I bought began as a laundromat, and added tanning beds. Unfortunately, the name ("Scrub Hub")does no justice to the tanning business which currrently brings in more $ than the laundry. I am remodeling, and since I never liked the name of the place, I am planning on separating the 2 businesses and giving them both new names.

I am committed to "Laundry Express" for the laundry side, but am looking for a good name for the Tanning side of the business. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Competing with Membership Fees

I opened my shop in April 2010. My competition charges a Membership Fee for all new sign-ups which is currently $24.99. This fee allows them to purchase tanning packages at a "supposed" discount and start around $99 & $119. My competition has the benefit of having all their customers on EFT. I have done the simple math and IT'S HUGE!

I have been advertising the fact that we don't have membership fees, but, seriously, I don't know how to compete. We are so slow! I am currently running a special where anyone who signs up for our EFT at any level gets a $50.00 bottle of lotion FREE. It's the first week and I haven't sold one yet, but have several interested in it.

Anyone in similar circumstances? What "tack" did you take? Suggestions on the subject are appreciated.
