My girlfriend and I just opened our first salon in a city with 80,000 residents and hosts 12 tanning salons already. In this city it seemed like everyone had best intentions when they opened there tanning salon but really began to neglect there money makers... there tanning beds. Seems like all the salons have 10yrs or older beds and they don't seem to change there lamps in any of them, and many of them are burnt out.

We decided to open a high-end salon with a amazing modern decor, and rather than buying 10 cheap/lower quality beds we purchased 3 high-end beds, the Open Sun 1050, Open Sun 550, and a Suncapsule 48. We have been open for 3 weeks now and the first week was scary as ****, we didn't even have proper signs up and seemed like we made a bad choice to open a salon, but the second week showed a little glimmer of hope, but the 3rd week now has been amazing, it really has snowballed and now we have no regrets, we attribute the quick success to 3 things... beautifully designed salon, top of the line beds, and amazing staff.

Now we want to push it to the limit and get to the point that we will be by appointment only, which is why I'm here, to read everyone's success's, failures, and absorb as much as i can to make us the top earning salon in our city. The unit starts fine but when the unit shuts off it doesn't go into cool down mode and one door coulmn (right door) still stays running. I phoned ETS and they said that was strange. We checked to see if maybe a cap was holding a charge but thats not the case. Like I mentioned before the booth does not go into a cool down mode, not sure if that was programed out or not. Does this sound like a relay issue? Or possibly a board issue? I am brand new to the forum. I own a franchised(licensee) salon that has performed pretty well with positive sales growth every year since we opened the doors 3 tanning seasons ago. I was hoping I could get some help on here on how to come up with a sales price for the salon. The salon is debt free, great corner location in busy women's shopping center, established/loyal clients low rent relative to other similar locations. We are hoping to make a little on the sale. I have heard that it is a multiple of net profit and some say you could sell as an asset sale. Any help here would be appreciated!

One of my beds timer is not communicating with the T-Max- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There are also bulbs out in nearly every facial and several out in my stand-up. I have mostly SunVision beds, and have looked to the ends of the earth for a tech to come replace bulbs and look at the malfunctioning bed. The closest I've found is in Pittsburg, which is a four hour commute with a hefty $30.00 an hour travel time charge. If anyone knows of ANYONE who can help, please let me know.
