Re: Bulb Recommendations
That would be a bad idea in a bed with less than 30 lamps. If you increase the lamp output and decrease time you will probably end up "zebra" striping big time. Even in a 24 lamp bed with stock lamps that can happen.

Re: Bulb Recommendations
This is a narrow bed. I'm not sure what year it is but the bulbs are pretty close together. I haven't had any striping problems with it.
So you don't think I should change the bulbs to maybe 160 watt bulbs (I believe I've even seen 140 watts before) ? If not, what 100 watt bulbs should I replace the current ones with ? |

Re: Bulb Recommendations
OK......
A 100w bed is a 100w bed. The "power" is not determined by the bulb. There is a thing called a ballast. Your bed use 100w ballast so your bed needs 100w lamps. Yes a competition can be run at both 20min and 15min. You need to change your lamps to a more aggressive one. |

Re: Bulb Recommendations
You cannot put 140w or 160w lamps in a 100w bed. The beds only have 100w ballasts and cannot support that kind of wattage. You will only get 100w of power out of a 140w/160w lamp(waste of $$). Only if you change the ballasts can you put higher watts in beds. You can put higher UVB lamps-this is what I do, but check w/ lamp disty. However, I didn't change the time on my 20 min beds. Be careful too as your state may be regulated and use inspectors.
