Trying to decide between these two beds. They are both used, and are right in the same price range.

The magic 636 does have the mug 6 glass

and the Tan America L33 has the retrofitted lamp plug in kit.
and also, new acrylic, and new parabolic reflectors.

I cant decide and i need to make a decision ASAP. like yesterday.

This is a simple decision, one unit is an Ok tanning hp. Depending on the source the plug in lamps it could be a step backward not forward.
The other unit tans your asss off if set up properly and has Mugg 6. Both units are a little doggy to relamp but clearly 1 unit is a UVA chortin machine the other is clearly dated.

They will both do fantastic for you. The L33 will use less power than the Magic will.

Because you have success with a L-33 doesn't mean it is a solid performer, it means you are doing a good job of marketing it.
Some salons particularly in small markets have success with 24 lamp Sunquests, that doesn't mean you should go out and buy one. All things being equal a Magic is by far a better "performing "machine. In regard to style you could make the case that a Matrix L-33 is in the same league, that would be of course subjective. In regard to performance you can be objective by simply metering both beds. With the following being equal; voltage, room temp,lamp hours, etc. you will not find another HP that will put out the same high numbers as a 636.

It performs because it never needs service, it runs day in and day out for 2.5 years with no issues....it paid for itself quickly, and customers love it. This is why I call it a performer. It's very attractive, lots of wow factor. Can you point out to me where I said it was better then the Magic..... I didn't. I am only giving advice to salon owners or potential salon owners from my own experience as a salon owner and not a bed salesman or distributor, I speak in my opinion only and will continue to. ;)

I have to go with the Magic. The Magic will put out 130 for 1000 hours or more on a set of lamps. The Matrix with a brand new set of lamps will put out 75-80 and steadily decline from there. I had a new customer tan in the Magic last week. This customer usually tans in a Matrix and she told me that she was never going back to the Matrix again. She said that the Magic was much cooler and she got better results from the Magic.
With that being said, the Magic needs ac pumped into the room and into the bed. As far as I am concerned, the Magic is the one to go with. The disadvantage with the Magic is it uses more power but if I had the extra power, I would go with the Magic. I own 2 of them so if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Hotstuff have you owned a Matrix? The salon the customer tans at, do you know the hours on the lamps when the customer tanned there? Was this a lady that desires to be ridiculously dark. I personally enjoy the matrix so much because I maintain a nice tan for up to 10 days without losing any of that color. I also meter the matrix to make sure I'm getting the optimal amounts of Vitamin D with the more UVB percentage in it. I won't comment on magics because I don't own one and never tanned in one. To me price is a factor here for each unit and what your neighboring salons may or may not already have. The matrix also needs plenty of AC. You do have a valid reason to not like a matrix considering a salon near you has one.

Hotstuff how much does it cost to relamp a magic? I have no clue but that might be something to compare as well when you run out of those 1000 hours.

Eileen, we can disagree on what we like. I have never owned a Matrix but a friend of mine owns 2 of them and I have tried them many times. Before I bought the Magic, I used the Matrix quite a few times to see which one I liked. The Magic won hands down.

I am not trying to say the Matrix is a bad bed. It is not but if you ask me which one I would rather own, it's the Magic and it isn't close. The Magic has too many advantages over the Matrix and for that matter most other HP beds. It has disadvantages too.
It cost more and it uses more power. Even if the lamps are more, not that big a deal because I can make $100k to 125k in between lamp changes. I don't remember what the lamps are because I got an extra set with my first Magic and I used them for my last lamp change and the other Magic doesn't have 1000 hours on it yet.
