If I remember correctly, it is in the 2-3 grand range.

Come on Rob, that is the best you have to say about the Matrix, it will use less power. That is a glowing endorsement. I promise you that you will not turn to dust if you say something nice about the Magic. Well maybe you will.

Re: Magic 636 vs Tan America L33

I have tanned in both. The magic does give a better brown color as I was a little red from the higher UVB in the matrix. The matrix tan was pretty good too, just not as good as the magic. I like the looks of the matrix better, but they both will give you the "wow" look you need in your salon.

If I had a choice, I would pick the Mastersun instead.

Re: Magic 636 vs Tan America L33

There you go. That was not that hard. I am proud of you. You get a scooby treat.

That is what I don't understand about the Matrix. Everyone says that the Matrix is around 1.7% uvb but that it is a higher uvb bed. My friend tells me that he can't out a new tanner in for 9 or 10 minutes their first tan because he will burn them. The Magic has 1.6% uvb with mug6 glass but I can put all but the very fairest in for 9 or 10 minutes and I have never burned someone.

Re: Magic 636 vs Tan America L33

I believe ours were well over 600 hours when we relamped it (my son takes care of the hour logs). We hadn't noticed any drop off in tanning power but wanted to get the new conversion kit in before the busy season. I think the matrix is about $1,300 to relamp.

You didn't say the Magic was better I did. Here is why; it far out performs a Matrix, meters do not lie. They measure uva output in milliwatts per cm squared. That is quantifiable. At 900 hours you will get around 145 mils. A Matrix will put out 80-85 mils with brand new bulbs. At 450-500 hours you shiit can the bulbs in your Matrix because your readings will tank exponentially after 500 hours.
You will pay more up front for a Magic but considering you get 2x the lamp longevity the extra cost is quickly recooperated. As per lamp costs the Matrix consists of 27/620 watt hp's and 6/1000 watt hp's, retail cost approximately $2800. The Magic 636 prior to 2005 consists of 30/1000 watts, retailing at around $2900. So lamp costs are consistant. The difference is at 900 hours you will have changed the lamps in your anemic performing Matrix 2x so you have twice the lamp costs and at the same time you have approximately 2/3's the output. This isn't opinion but it is fact!

Re: Magic 636 vs Tan America L33

So can anybody answer the uvb question on the Matrix? The Matrix puts out 75 with uvb at 1.7%. The Magic puts out 130 with uvb at 1.6% with the mug6 glass.
It would seem that the Magic would be the one that you have to be careful with but it is the Matrix. Why is that?

That's a heck of a lot higher then what Future Industris and URI sells lamps for!
