Comparing High Pressure Beds. Magic vs. Open Sun 1050???

I am wondering what people's opinions are on the Magic and the Open Sun 1050? And why one might be better to have in your salon than the other?

Re: Comparing High Pressure Beds. Magic vs. Open Sun 1050???

The Magic has a longer track record than the Ergo 1050. This is the first Year for the 1050, but from what I hear it is a decent unit. Quite a bit higher in UVB so it will provide some results. The Magic on the other hand has a very high ROI, longer lamp life, & it has been out for about 5 years now.

(This is a can of worms question, just wait until all the bed guys come on & say buy mine it's better. There are plenty of options for HP these days. Try it before you buy it, study hard & make sure you look at all aspects.)

The Magic is a great unit. ROI and longer lamp life are a great selling point. You get longer lamp life at the expence of loosing the UVB from the lamps.

When you increase the volts to the lamps, your lamps increase UVA (a little) and greatly decreases UVB. So when you have a new customer with NO tan and the lamps are getting over 700 hours and you have increased your volts to the lamps to maintain your meter reading at 130, your not producing very much UVB and your new white customer gets no or very little tan.

So I ask you.....does longer lamp life really save you money or does it cost you customer satisfaction???

No, not at all.

The Magic is a great unit. But they use the lamp life a selling point and they don't tell you both sides of the story.

I don't know enough about the 1050 other than it is a higher UVB unit.

Now come on Tommorow, you forgot to tell them that Mastersun loses uvb the more hours
the bed runs. The Mastersun loses uva and uvb for every hour it runs. The Magic can keep the uva up at the level it was in hour number 1 to hour 1000. Can you say that with the Mastersun. I like how you forgot to tell them your bed loses uvb also as if the Magic is the only one the loses uvb. Lets just say the Mastersun and the Magic tan the same, the one point the Mastersun can never beat the Magic in is that it can put 130 out for 1000 hours
or more.

I think all of the units mentioned here all perform well and if someone were to buy either one - I think the customers would be satisfied.

Re: Comparing High Pressure Beds. Magic vs. Open Sun 1050???

I may be wrong BUT I believe you can step up the transformer on the MasterSun as the lamps age to increase output. Is this not the case?

I have tanned in every HP unit on the market. I must say that the MasterSun was by far the most cool and relaxing HP session I haver ever had. I was amazed at the cooling of this unit. This alone blows away any other HP unit.

In output the MasterSun is about 10% lower then the highest output HP unit. Then again most of the people I know that own the other unit only run it at about the output of the MasterSun anyways because it is TOO **** hot. In the real world application the Master Sun is just as strong if not stronger then most of the units out there. This is because of the cooling.

Now throw in the fact that you can lay in the MasterSun for a wopping 15 minutes compared to 10-12 minutes on some of the other units. This is BIG on a HP bed as if gives the skin more time to tan out.

If I was purchasing another HP unit right now it would be hands down the Master Sun. This is the most relaxing HP session on ther market. Output is in the top 20% of all the HP units on the market. The tan time is among the longest in its category (big for HP). Put all these three items together and you have the best unit currently in our industry.

Just my 2 cents.
