What could be causing this?? - Page 2

Bad ballast, bad capacitor, or bad connection. This bed uses lead/lag setup. I doubt it would be a ballast or capacitor since three in one spot are acting up.

If it was one lamp then I would look at the ballast or cap but this is a wiring problem. Heartland uses cheap stranded aluminum clad wire that does not properly connect to the type of quick lock connectors that european type ballasts and capacitors and lampholders use. Solid wire is the best choice for wiring.

Anyway, chek for poor connections at the ballasts and capacitors and lampholders. Gently tug on the wires in the lampholders and capacitors to ensure that they are connected.

The ballast connections are screw terminal. (on some 160 and 400 watt type) Make sure that even though the wire may be in the slot tight that the screw may have been overtightened and broke the connection even though it may seem connected.

Electronic starters suck but that is not the problem here.

Im betting on Brian's theory, the wiring may be loose.. I am a little displeased that all this flickering has probably ruined those 3 lamps which go right down your back, I may disperse them after it is serviced and running right again

Tommorow is the day, we are tearing apart all the beds and giving them a thorough cleaning, and Im checking out the wires on this unit!

I love the electronic starters, every bed in my salon (except the Ultrabronz) has been relamped with electronic starters.. My lamps have a flicker free start, it is nice to see that immediate start. When I was younger they had SCA Wolff systems at the place I would tan, the ones with the magnetic equipment, they started right up (flicker free) and I always loved that, when choke came out, I wasnt really happy with all the lamps starting with a delay!!

Well, I resecured all the wires, and all the lamps.. The one lamp is still a little iffy. It is no where near as bright as the others, I swapped the lamps and the dim one lit right up with the other socket and one that was lighting up great went dim in the other socket
