Do standup lamps need flipping?

Do you need to flip the lamps every once and awhile on a standup unit? I read an advertisement for vertical lamps that didn’t require flipping. Is this true or just a marketing ploy?

sounds like marketing ploy to me...like saying a bottle of beer you only need to open once...lol

The thoery behind flipping lamps in the stand up is that heat rises in the unit & causes excess stress on the top cathode/filament, thus causing premature failure of lamps. It can't hurt to wipe down the lamps & flip them at about 200-250 hrs.

Can't hurt fersure, and you can clean things up while you are at it.

Seems u read about AUVL'S worlds first vertical lamp! no flipping required.

i put mine in upside down cause i heard the comp was sending in spies to see what brand i used. so now they gotta work for it....hahahahahaahahsmokerscoughhahahehe h

does that mean i dont need to reflip them LOL
