160W Philips Lamps w/ 140W Starters?

My Suncapsule 160w VHR has been experiencing 2-3 lamps burning out each week with only 175 hours on the lamps I pulled the starters on a few of the bad lamps and they are 140W starters. Is it ok to under power like this, could it be the culprit, would I be better off with 160W starters? Sorry for all the questions, this unit was here when I bought the salon and I am still learning about it.

How old are the lamps?

put 160 watt electronic starters.

The lamps (from what the previous owners records indicate) were put in almost a year ago. 175 hours and about 900 sessions.

I believe I still have S12 Phillips Starters withmy 160w lamps, no problems.

oh yeah and if its the same lamps check the lamp holders for corrosion..

id change the lamps.....start your own records. what kind of lamps you got?

175 hours should be abreeze, if the records are accurate.

S12's are OK, but you would be best served by refitting the booth with electronic starters.
