I am opening a salon in a small town of about 30,000 people in northern BC. I have just decided on my beds and am ready to pay. I have been reading all these posts on starter beds, mid beds and superbeds. I know you have to account for the type of town you are in and what you competition is. I decided to go for, 1 Sun Capsule Super Sonic, 1 Ergoline Vertical, 1 Ergoline Ambition 350, 1 Soltron Flirt, and last but not least the Ergoline Evolution 500. Im my area..... no one has seen this nice of equipment and our other salon (that just offers tanning) has 2 160W stand ups TA, 6 Sundash older models like the 1998-99 models and the other salon is a spa with 2 beds, a TA Sun Up II and a TA Santa Barbra. So from your standpoints how does my salon look? It is going to offer superior customer service and yes the beds are a little more expensive that the TA's that I was going to go for but this town has never seen these sorts of beds except in big city's. It is in a higher traffic area than the others, even though the big one is on main street, my location has more attactions that people visit on avery regular basis. Which I think is important!
Please all comments and suggestions, FEEL FREE TO VOICE 'EM! Thanks in advance! |

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
So what are the levels going to be? I don't think you need 2 standups. My standup is the least used. Seems like a busy mix. There's only one of each kind?

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
Make sure to ask if the ballasts in the Flirt are 160W if you're getting that version.

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
Thanks for the questions, why two stand ups? I don't actually know that is kinda what we decided on. Now that you put that idea into my head with it has before, I am going to talk to my distributor about it again. And why each a different bed? I want a mix of beds, I could get 2 of the Ambition 300's but the Flirt is the same bed just a different color scheme(spelling???) Why should I ask about the 160W? Am I missing something? Please let me know! Thanks for your input! Hope to hear more from you. And thanks for the PM. I took a look at your salon and think that it looks good.:glasses:

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
Level wise, I am going to double check on that with my guy. I think that for the beds, Evolution 500 is a level 3, Ambition 300 and Flirt is a level 1 and 2. The Super Sonic is a 7 minute tan so I am thinking level 3 and that would go for the Vertical. But don't quote me on that. I am going to check into that.

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
I think you need more of one level. What if 3 people come in with level 2 packages or whatever?
As for the ballast comment...a lot of companies put 160 watt lamps in a bed to make it sound stronger but the ballast is only 120 or 140 watts to that's the most the lamp can function at. I think the Ergoline's 140W lamps are in 120W ballasts so it's a 120W bed essentially. They can be tricky tricksters that way. Then you'd go wasting your money each time you relamped your bed with 160W lamps. Some do make real 160W on top with 100W or 120W on the bottom.

Before you put any money on anything, you should consider what time of year your doing this in. If the dist. your buying these beds from cares at all about your business success, they would have told you to hold off at least a few months from now. Unless you have about 10 to 15K sitting in the bank to blow. If you want any advice on anything, give me a call anytime. Don't fall for the salesman spitch this time of year, it will only cost you lots of money. 1-866-954-1305 or my cell 1-250-951-3820 Whether you decide to continue with this dist. or choose to purchase something different from a different dist. call me, you have nothing to loose. Yes I sell beds too, but with my business, My success is your success. I 'll leave you with a quote that I think fits this very well. Quote:

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
Sandigirl, the ballast thing confusion was with the sundash equipment, and some ergoline only. there truely is 160 ballasts and lamps on all other makes of tanning equipment.
Sandigirl is right, you will only need one stand up. Most clients want to lay down and relax. In the 7 years of business, i have had to add more laydowns, never another stand up. They are almost always the least used unit. Levels, in my opinion, base, 100-120 watt beds, no more than 32 lamps (unless your in a very rich area) at least 2 of them. For your next level, 160 watt, 40 lamps minimum for a true UPGRADE jump. Stand up is on the same level also as this bigger unit, and last level, High pressure. putting anything inbetween is a waste of time in my opinion. You need to give the customer a reason to upgrade. Going from a 32 lamp 100 watt unit to a 36-38 lamp 100 watt unit with a couple facials is a joke. its a bit wider. Thats it. When your talking 100 watt lamps, you talking high burning, lots of sessions needed to get tanned. And usualy but not always 20 minute sessions. If a 100 watt lamp is 15 minutes, even more burning. When you go to a 160 watt lamp unit, usualy max tan time is 15 min or less, no more ( shouldn't be) and you have much more browning on these units, so your clients only need max 3 sessions a week instead of the ever other day on a 100 watt bed. for you this meens you can acomidate that many more DIFFERENT clients per month which = more $$. High pressure is a whole different world, a must in my opinion to make serious cash and put yourself above and beyond your competition. |

Re: Studio Line Up of ERGOLINES!
Go with the Super Sonic, but forget about the Egroline standup. Once they tan in the Super Sonic nobody is going to use the Ergoline unit. You only need one, period. This time of the year you can deal, deal deal. Be careful!!!
