Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

Matrix owners are free to have either the Tan America retrofit or the ISO retrofit. My ONLY goal is to make sure that they understand the risks involved BEFORE they find themselves behind the eight ball.

Once the ISO conversion has been made by an agent, the salon owner, not the "agent" of ISO) is stuck with the ramifications of that decision.

Here's my suggestion. Ask the ISO "agent" to provide IN WRITING the data showing that installing the ISO retrofit kit will not (a) cause the salon owner to become the "manufacturer of record" for the unit; (b) cause Tan America's product liability and warranty coverage to be voided; and, (c) cause their salon liability insurance to become null and void. If they won't do that...... Caveat Emptor.

Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

What this really boils down to is not what lamps you choose to use but rather if you choose to change the kit and go with the plub in style lamps correct?

Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

Don, as you know I own a Matrix and have been in the process of changing my ignitors to 1000 watt I also have chosen to use the TA RETRO KIT.

You mentioned you tested the new retro from TA and they tested just fine does that mean as good as the ISO lamps? The reason I'm asking is I can still handle the four lamp changes with the wire leads for a couple of years until I trade my Matrix in for a newer one.

My concern is, like MattA I tried a different brand once and scraped them and stayed with the ISO wire lead lamp so jumping into the new Ushio makes me nervous.

I have been buying my retro kit a few at a time but will stop if they are not as good and go back to the wire leads. Can you or will you share any info?

Thanks John

Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

What do you mean by buying a few at a time? For different units? Nevermind what else it could be. Could you explain that if you bougt the kit then you tried them correct?

Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

My Matrix has 350 hours on the Iso wire lead lamps so I have been buying a few retro cassests at a time and putting them in the center row on top and bottom first ( Things are a bit tight this year so doing the best I can)

However the new retro kit lights have metered a bit lower on my 5.0 than when brand new ISO lamps are installed. I understand that higher readings do not always mean the time to tan is always better or worse.

"Don do you know if USHIO makes other HP lamps for tanning? "

Yes, they also make the HID/hp lamps for Sportarredo.

Installing the Tan America retrofit kit for the Matrix results in slightly more tanning power and about the same Te (4.0 MEd) time (i.e., sunburning power). The main advantage is the ease of later lamp changes.

Neither the original Matrix nor the Matrix with the TA retrofit kit installed has the tanning power of the new Solarix.

Re: Matrix L33 Relamp kit

Well I need to change my matrix and I want to go retro. Does anyone know what is the best and who to install it in CA. The people who said they could do it never call me back.
Thanks,Romelle
