Re: What Tanning Bed Should I get?

I had a client yesterday come in and said she has a unit at home but would like to get a single session in the standup to get her pressure points. I gave her BOGO, so she used her other session in the Lotus today. She came out and bought a package in that level. She LOVED the bed and the standup.
(but she has a tanning bed at home) ;)
Don't waste your money, go to your local salon. It's cheaper, in the long run.

Re: What Tanning Bed Should I get?

The electric is the least of the cost, probably around 300 to 500 bucks to run a line.

Can get a used VHR unit with facials for a good price that will need a 60 amp circuit and your home service will not have a problem running it.

Most home services are 150 to 400 amp depending on the size of the house. Most smaller beds are 20 to 30 amps, this is not an issue. Don't forget, you are not running it 10 hours a day.

They are not listening to your situation. On these boards there is plenty of used EQ for sale. Also check with your local tanning salon and see if they are selling something or make them an offer. We are entering slow season soon and someone might send a unit out the door for some extra cash.

Re: What Tanning Bed Should I get?

Brian is right,

Some people are not understading what your trying to do. If you look around you can get a good used commercial bed for your home.

I just purchased a Super Sundash 40 with 4,000 hours on it. Immaculate condition and only paid $2,000 which included 40 new lamps, the bed was also detailed for me.

They also gave me $250 worth of lotions and goggles and acrylic cleaner.

Shipping was $600. I had an electrician install a sub panel to the back of my house from the front and that cost $500 I ran my own wiring from the sub panel up the the spare room and installed a 4 prong socket in the wall for the bed.

So for under $3,500 you can have a great unit in your home that you can use anytime you want. However don't overdo your tanning sessions by going on it everyday like you want to.

The hardest part of the whole deal was getting 800 pounds of tanning bed upstairs. I had to break it down into about 8 pieces.

Good luck!

I think am better off actulaly buying a bed because salons are wanting like 300 for 10 sessions on the best bed+lotion thats to much.
I'm willing to bet anything, this is on an HP unit. If you understood HP units, you'd not find this expensive. You only need 3-5 sessions total to get a tan, one session is like doing 6 base sessions, but almost no burning its actualy cheaper to use an HP unit, plus you don't end up looking like a leather hide bag like you will going every day on a base unit. Then factor in the less lotion you will use on an HP unit compaired to a base unit. Once you have a tan on HP units, you only need to go 2-3 times per month to maintain. on a base unit your looking at about 2 times per week.

It peeves me to no end when people say "there to expensive". Why don't you ask a salon owner how much money they actualy take home in the end. Its squat. There are so very many expenses to running a tanning salon that you couldn't even consieve. My hydro alone on a 6 bed salon, 2 units being HP, was $1300.00 for 2 months, then factor in I"m looking at minimum $500 to relamp ONE base unit, and up to $2000 for ONE HP unit. Even the little things add up that people don't even consider, like the wypes in the rooms, headphones for the stereo systems that keep growing legs, toilet paper, (that also grows legs), laundry soap, the cost of constantly replacing towels, and that doesn't even scrape the surface of what it costs to run a decent salon. I can tell you its for sure, that cheap place your considering, hasn't changed their lamps in a few years (just because a lamp turns on, does't mean it still tans you) I can also bet they won't be around long, unless they are in a gym that doesn't have to survive off tanning. I also bet they don't clean the bed for you, and if they do, not very well! Did you know it costs a salon to run a base unit 12 times, about $35.00 factoring in most expeses, but if you only pay $19.00 and can go up to 30 times if you so choose, How do you think they make money? they pray you don't use much of your package what so ever. But go waste your money on that cheap tan, and in a month when your still white, then maybe you'll understand why a quality salon charges what they do!. And do post on here how ****** off you are when they close their doors on you in the middle of the night right after you bought your tanning, cause its your cheap *** fault they did.

I don't know what you think it costs to run a salon, but I bet your way off!

Just an example, On a 5 bed salon, One HP unit. Gross sales 180,00. Net 40,000 Only 2 staff to pay, one making 20,000 per year, one doing $5000 per year. You do the math.

And thats a HIGH gross sales for a 5 bed salon! Most do that with 10 units. Imagine what little take home they have with 10 beds worth of expenses to pay. More lease space, more staff to clean, more beds to relamp , more beds using hydro. And so it takes a Salon owner having to own several salons before they actualy make anything. Most don't, they have a working spouse that pays most of the home front bills.
