Sunstar ZX30-3F disrupts tmax communication
Greetings all -
I have a 7-bed salon, all ETS equipment, that started having communication problems - sporadic beeping of the TMAX Manager Pro and randomly losing control of some beds. Bed 1 is a ZX30-3F, it is controllable but bed 2 (a sunvision 28) is not.. well at least not with the ZX30 "online", and other beds down the daisy chain are sometimes controllable, sometimes not. After some trial and error, I was able to fix the problem by cutting power to the ZX30 (I have only one of those) and resetting the TMAX Manager. This restores all beds 2-7 to normal operation. Bed 1's com ports are still in the daisy chain - just no power to the bed, which of course means I can't use it.. However, powering it back up without resetting the TMAX Manager seems to allow stand-alone operation, but that's illegal for salons in this state. I've been in touch with ETS technical support, they say try replacing the timer but that's a $400 item I believe. They outsource those timers and so cannot help on internals. This unit does not (I believe) have an ADI timer.., it's an enclosed box labelled part #21441A, with other idents such as "AOK 412", "EP #24". I believe this indicates the EPROM firmware version, especially since a 28-pin PROM on the Spectrum Products board inside has a label reading "0.1.24" and dated "09/21/00". Also, on powering up the bed the display shows "24", then "1", then settling on "0" - without the period. I'm inclined to believe the timer is ok since there is no error indication at any time. Assuming of course firmware checksum is confirmed on powerup. My question - Have any of you experienced problems with these timers? Any guesses as to what else might be causing problems on my TMAX network? My clients really miss this bed! Thanks for any suggestions.. |

Re: Sunstar ZX30-3F disrupts tmax communication
We have all ETs equipment as well and we are using FST Timer which works well ..just an option .. Cant you do it manually with the timer you have?

Re: Sunstar ZX30-3F disrupts tmax communication
I don't know if this will work, but it's what I would do in you situation. Can you wire this bed to be the last in the chain and set it to an address above the rest? See if that lets the rest work. Seems like I had that same problem when I opened but with a Sunstar, wouldn't let the rest of the beds up the chain work. They were new beds so service guy replaced a board and been working since.
