Exclamation single lamp blown

Help! I have a SolarForce 648 bed and one of the lamps has blown. I have only been open for 6 weeks!!! So, should I just order 1 lamp (Velocity VS-R 160W) since I may want to totally relamp the bed at a later date? I'm still new to this and I'm not sure whats best to do!

check the starter. Lamps usually dont blow.

Re: single lamp blown

you should always have extra lamps and starters! if you ship 1 lamp it will still cost the same as 12. its oversized.

now first remove the bad lamp and put it in a different spot if it lights its the starter. check the starter by doing the same thing.

now if it is a lamp/starter put it on the bottom of the bed off to the side untill you get a replacement!

Re: single lamp blown

So if it is a lamp/starter how many should I order? I don't want to order a ton of them since when its time to replace the bulbs I may want to use another bulb?

Re: single lamp blown

you only been open 6weeks. Those lamps should still be fresh (under 100hrs) unless you are kicking some serious ***. No big deal if you put another lamp in there. Definitely make sure it's not a starter. If it is, only get E-starters. The regular starters are good for 100watt apps.

Re: single lamp blown

It's always good to keep a few extra lamps on hand. Next time you relamp, keep about 12 of the old ones as spares, just in case.

Re: single lamp blown

Even if you relamp with a different lamp , like Club said you can just carry them over as spares or sometimes i'll put them on the outsides of a few beds. Then keep a couple of the new lamps as spares.

Re: single lamp blown

When beds are newly installed, it isn't uncommon for a few lamps to appear to "blow" when they really have just jostled loose and aren't seated properly to light. Did you try taking it out and putting it back in? Also, as others said, try a different lamp in that holder and that lamp in a different position to determine what is really going on.
