Question Lamps for Tan America Sunup

Any suggestions for a better lamp that won't burn out so soon in standups? I have a Tan America Sunup with RIO-SHR 73's by Light Emission Technologies. They only have 210 hours on them and I've already replaced 15 due to them burning out. The ones that haven't burned out are excessively dark on the ends. I know standups tend to be harder on the lamps in general but these started burning out at about the 125 hour mark and it keeps getting more frequent now. Any suggestions?

I've had the same problem with my Tan America Equipment. When I use original equipment lamps (which used to be made by Light Sources for Tan America and are now made by Voltarc) I would get 450hours and they were still burning. The problem was that they were so expensive. I tried Phillips and Wolf lamps which both burned out at 270 hours. I'm now trying Interlectric. We'll see what happens. Heide at Interlectric assured me that she had customers getting 4 to 500 hours in T/A Sun UPs.

Re: Lamps for Tan America Sunup

Use a lamp with higher wattage output. I know a lot of people that run 200wRs in their 160wR stand up units from various mfrs. Hope this helps. Good luck. -Belvy

I actually was thinking about doing exactly that. I wondered if anyone else does the same.

Many in my experience. Bed type and lamp type (except for the Cosmedico 160wRs) burned out between 300 and 600 hours on average depending on the lamp brands. Good luck.

Re: Lamps for Tan America Sunup

For the Sun Up we have had the best success using LSI branded lamps.

The LSI Signature Series HP VHOR & Mix it with the LSI Beach Sun VHOR, every other lamp.

You can never expect more than 400-450 hrs on Tan America 160W unit.

Sam it's not fair to our sponsors to allow you to spam the boards. I have suggested to people to purchase black sun lamps from you that needed them. But common curiosity for our sponsors it's not right to have others spam the boards.

Re: Lamps for Tan America Sunup

Stand-ups nowadays are all problems. The downside of high performance and great results is that lamps get killed fast.
