Shouldn't you a uv reading, just like the rest of your lamps?...yep...400hrs seems to be the going rate, even on 650w facials I have too...

Most standard 400W facials are rated for 750 hrs, so it is reasonable to get a good 500 hrs out of them.

The Heraeus 400W Plus or Magic Sun 400W lamp is rated for 1000 HRS. This lamp comes stock in many UWE beds, you can easily expect a good 700-750 hrs.

We're a new salon and these are new beds, I only got a UV meter after the beds already had several hours on them. So I don't really have a starting point.......

I will change one bed at 400 hours and compare the readings of the new lites to the older ones, it should give me a fair idea. I would just hate to be changing bulbs for no reason as funds a little tight these days.....

thanks

I was told by a distributor that facial lamps don't need to be metered because their output does not depreciate over time. They are just as strong right before they burn out as they were new. Is this correct or have I been misled again?

Facial lamps do depreciate over time and need to be changed regularly. They should be changed before they burn out.

mikeytan,

Your distributor is incorrect.

Most salon owners I know will change the facials the same time they change the Low pressure lamps.
