I have found that the best vhr light is philips swift or advantage 160w. Make your decision depending on how high your canopy is from your bench. If it is over 18 inches I would put the advantage vhr in..

The Philips Advantage lamp is a great lamp, but not in this application. They would last about 150 hrs & burn the **** out of everyone.
For the Sungate I would use the LSI Signature Series VHOR HP or the Cosmolux VHR 9k90, they both hold up really well & give great results. Also if your unit has S12 starters, I would switch them to the Cleo Power or an Electronic version, you will get less end blackening & less premature failures on the lamps. |

Where can I read-up/buy these Cleo Power and Electronic starters. Would these same advice hold true for "Giant Sun". Tom |

The unit uses a 180W Ballast & it is usually juiced up to 240+ Volts.
Philips lamps hold up well in 160W units, but once they are overpowered they tend to die off fairly quick. The Advantage has also got a much higher UVB, which would take away from the purpose of the SunGate/Giant Sun. Fast Brown is what you should get from this bed, not fast burn. Tommy, most distributors should offer the Cleo Power starter & Electronic Starters. Yes, I do recommend them for the Giant Sun/SunGate |
