I have Beach Sun 100 watt reflector bulbs in my entry level Dr. Kern beds and my customers love them. My question is my level 2 beds are BodyScan 15 minute w/facials with BodyScan 100WR bulbs. What would be the best bulb to replace them with? My level 3 is a Pryzma 12 minute with 160WR bodyScan bulbs and I wuld like a more Bronzing bulb in that also.... Thanks if you can help !

Your entry level units are a bit strong!

You may want to make the Kern units a touch softer with a LSI Midday Sun reflector, then for your Level 2 use the Beach Sun reflector.

For your upgrade use the LSI Signature Series VHOR HP. Fast Bronze color with this one.

Yes, your entry level lamps are too strong for sure. You're putting yourself in a box. That bed will darken type 3B and higher skin types totally dark. Skin types 2 will have trouble and those you could move up. But that's not the proper tiering. Once your clients acclimate to the high UVB of those Beach Sun reflectors, they'll feel something is missing in VHR type equipment. I use non-reflector Beach Suns in a 15 minute session for my level one beds. Then when they go to level 2 VHR, they will get perhaps a little less UVB but lots more A. Even then, I have some people (too many, really) that try that and go back to the regulars. Why? Closer lamp to body spacing and a decent jolt of UVB every time for that satisfying quick "I got color" confirmation. Plus a little budget tightening. Bottom line, you have to leave them wanting more.

There's that blasted "bronzing" word again. Do an experiment--pick any bed and tell clients you just installed new "bronzing lamps." It doesn't matter which bed. THAT in short order will be your most popular bed. It's a total BS term but powerful in tanners imagination.

I hate the saying "Bronzing Bulb"

What works for one doesn't work for all!

A typical bronzing type lamp will usually have low UVB & High UVA.

Guess what?

Beginner tanners will love it & your more experienced tanners won't get crap from it!

It is important to find a lamp that will please the most skin types!

Re: ove hem100 watt reflector bulbs 15 minute beds

I have to disagree--we have one bed solely fitted with Philips Professional lamps which are extremely low UVB. We advise our experienced tanners to use it once a week to deepen their tan and it works. The color they get from this bed is brown-bronze, not brown-red.

It's also great on fair skinned clients as the risk of burn is far lower when we place a 'newbie' in this bed and start them off at 10 minutes.
