I replaced the 500w HP facial (R7S) lamps in a Royal Sun yesterday. Some of the new lamps only come on intermittantly. I have checked to see if they are seated correctly at least a half dozen times. I've gotten 3 of 6 lamps to light up all the time.

Voltage is boosted to 238. Fans all work fine. No heat sensor problem. All the lamps worked before the relamping.
I kept fussing with how the lamps were seated in the lamp holders. Finally 5 out of 6 were immediately lighting up and the 6th lit in 4-5 minutes. It's almost like there was a "break-in" period for the lamps. Or the lamps had to be seated in the holder "just so". Everything is fine now. I hate intermittant electrical problems! Are lamp ignitors a part that needs to be replaced on a regular basis? |
