Intermittant HP replacement lamp problem

I replaced the 500w HP facial (R7S) lamps in a Royal Sun yesterday. Some of the new lamps only come on intermittantly. I have checked to see if they are seated correctly at least a half dozen times. I've gotten 3 of 6 lamps to light up all the time.

What do your lamp holders look like, are the clean from burns? Are your fans working properly. You may also have a ignitor problem. Jeff

if they come on then go off do they come back on again during tanning cycle?if so you may have a temperature sensor problem.

i am having the same problem with one of mine.only i have a Dr.Kern.changed the ignitor and all..and it still is not going on!!!!

Most of the time it's an ignitor issue. Then make sure the wire lead is in correctly.

Low Voltage can cause an Ignitor not to lite...Worth checking

Voltage is boosted to 238. Fans all work fine. No heat sensor problem. All the lamps worked before the relamping.

I kept fussing with how the lamps were seated in the lamp holders. Finally 5 out of 6 were immediately lighting up and the 6th lit in 4-5 minutes. It's almost like there was a "break-in" period for the lamps. Or the lamps had to be seated in the holder "just so". Everything is fine now.

I hate intermittant electrical problems!

Are lamp ignitors a part that needs to be replaced on a regular basis?
