How many salon owners tell their clients or new clients their beds are wolff beds, and why?
From my studies, Fredrich Wolff, a European scientist who some call the father of indoor tanning, invented a device in the early 1970, so this would be said that wolff is one of the many who helped create the tanning unit. Now, for the life of me when someone is asked what type of bed they have or the type of unit they were tanning in and they say wolff it drives me nuts...educate your clients and tell them the manufactered name and the number of lamps and the wattage...dont you think this is how it should be handled, its how I do it, how about you? _________________ [ This Message was edited by: TanningEmporium on 2003-08-01 09:08 ] |

Yes!!!!...& the ridiuclous part is, the customers who refer to Wolff Beds (like they are experts on "the tanning biz") & want to impress you that they will only tan on wolff beds are normally the tanners who only tan on entry level beds! The irony is I have a Sonnenbraune Diva 7...which I consider to be very leading edge..54 lamps, 9 min max tan time, etc etc..has "BodyScanXXX" lamps...& guess what...they have "Wolff System" stamped on them too!!!!

If you have taken the Smart Tan Certification class, the manuels they give have the history of a tanning bed in them. Wolff is the technology of the beds, thats what makes the bed run. Niels Finsen, from Denmark, was the man who harnessed the first UV lamp.
Wolff has became a trademark name for tanning lamps for a certain manufactor, which we all know who they are. I tell clients Wolff is the technology of the bed itself, when I ask what type of beds they have been tanning in, I want to know the manufactor, thats how I know how many lamps they have been tanning in, and I ask if they know the wattage of the lamps, and most say no, upon that when giving them a tour of my salon I show them how to read the lamps and tell them if they can not see it, the beds probably are not in manufactor state. I relamp my beds with the same lamps they came with. This way I truly get the life of my beds and the components they came with. |

I so agree with this When People Call my Salon or come in they say do you have wolff beds? and I begin buy explaing to them the history behind wolff and then start explaing my lamps my beds and ect...'Customers are actually very pleased to hear the story behind "wolff beds" and feel much more educated in Tanning !!
