I have been told that if you take the same bed without facials, and make it with facial lamps, requiring a shorter low pressure lamp to fit - the shorter lamp will have a higher meter reading than the original longer one. Why is this (one for Don).

No, It most likely will read either lower or be very similar.
The UV meter that is most used in the tanning industry reads Total UV output. So a 80w lamp of similar properties to a 100w lamp will most likely read lower. |

Here are the standard lamp sizes & wattages.
F59/HO 80 Watt F59/VHO 140 Watt F71,F72,F73/HO 100 Watt F71,F72,F73/VHO 160 Watt F79/HO 120 Watt F79/VHO 180 Watt When lamp sizes are measured the size usually includes the measurement from end of socket to end of socket. If you measure an actual F71" lamp it is about 68 3/4" long. Add the sockets & you get 71". |
