When lamps approach the end of their useful life, do they produce more heat? I have 1,000 hr lamps that I normally change at 500-600 hours. One bed is running warmer than usual with the lamps at 594 hours of use. All the fans are working, acrylics are clean with less than 1,000 hours of use, and the exhaust/intake slots are clean.

Just because the intake slots are clean doesn't mean the proper air flow is occuring. You need to get a good look at the fans themselves. They may be coated with dust or lint decreasing the amount of flow they will create. Have you had the bed apart lately to inspect for internal dust condition? Can you see both sides of the fans? If not, I'd say it's time to do so. I would think that as a lamp gets older, its output decreases and as a result it would run cooler not hotter. BUT, I'm not an expert on aging lamp characteristics.

I have been told that they get hotter as they age. (Not stronger; just hotter.)

Lamps will draw slightly more current as they age thus creating more heat. A/c register location and salon air circulation can be a factor also. Are all the lamps the same type? Do you have buck boosters on all of your beds? If so are they all wired to the same voltage. When a ballast is ready to burn out it will create more heat too. Many factors to look at.

Based on posted comments I am concluding that the excess heat I experienced on this one bed was due to fan edges getting dirty and bulbs getting old. I use buck boosters, regularly change ballasts and air circulation has not changed. I am due for a bulb change anyway and will see what effect that will have.

I hope you're not regularly changing ballasts. That would be quite expensive and should not be necessary. Did you mean to say starters?
