tsdave, I've got 2 of the T-32 VHR beds in my salon. I've had them 2 seasons now, and I'm very pleased with their performance. They are simply built, rugged, and get excellent results! I purchased mine with the side body fan units, but have added a foot body fan as well. They will crank out the UVR, and are quite intense with a maximum Te of 10 minutes. The only down side I've experienced is having the bench acrylic brake on me. It happened on both beds within a few month of the busy season. After replacing them, I had one brake again. I put signs up asking clients not to support their body weight with their elbow or knee when getting in our out of the bed. Surprise, no more broken acrylics!! These beds are well built and are priced right IMHO. In fact, I liked them so much, I recently purchased a U-32 VHR 10 minute exposure bed as well. Not a lot of frills, just good results.

Tanses makes a very good bed if you get it at the right price, the problem I see with the beds is the cooling, they use a gob of little muffin fans which don't build up very much pressure they would be better off using less fans by a factor of 3 and using a fan that can build up pressure, you would have less area of breakdown and you would get better cooling. Also their electronics tray needs to be split in half and on rollers have you ever tried to lift a 52 or 44 ballast tray it will kill you.I have these beds and will buy them again but these engineering changes need to be looked at.i have not had the acrylic problem but the bed needs to have the time increased on it to 12 minutes,if you use the time of 7 or 8 minutes it is just not enough,we have talked about this with DON before and its funny how two different beds with the same configuration and lamps and one has 7 minute max time and the other 12 to 15 minute max time, just a thought it might be marketing.

I have 3 of the Tanses 32 100 watt at 15 minutes & I also have 1 of the Tanses 44 VHR at 10 minutes. The 44 does get very hot & I've got to figure out how to get the heat out of that room before busy season kicks in. Last year it was awful.

The thing that I have the most problem with is the facial in the 44. Either I'm taking it out wrong & there's a much better way to change the lamps in the facial or it is so difficult that I wished I didn't have a facial in that bed at all.

Corvette, should my T-44 be a 12 minute bed instead of 10 minute? (It was originally an 8 minute bed, but I changed it to 10.)

Ginger,
I may have to settle with 100 watt beds due to electrical service issues.
How do you like your 32 lamp,100 watt, beds?
Are they T32, U32 or some other model?
What type of lamps do you use in them?
Do you feel 15 min max is appropriate?

Thanks, Dave

People why do come online and tell everyone you are illegally changing the exposure time?I hope the fda catches up with people who do this.we are all regulated by the fda and can not under any circumstances change the exposure time of any tanning bed you people will be the down fall of tanning if someone gets hurt.just because you are not checked does not mean you are immune to the FDA.DO EVERYONE A FAVOR WHO IS SERIOUS ABOUT THE INDUSTRY AND SELL OR CLOSE BEFORE YOU GIVE US A BAD NAME!

t-n-t. How about this concept. I've got type 4 skin (well, almost). I tan in a bed that has a 10 minute exposure rating But after 4-5 sessions, I'm just not getting any darker. Why? Because the SOME pastey-white Irishman in the FDA figures (and maybe with some validation) that the exposure time is set for people of higher skin type 2 and we don't want THEM getting burned. BUT why should my tanning ability suffer? So I used that bed for the 10 minutes 4-5 times and not even any pinkness to my skin so I take 11 minutes (oh no Mr. Bill!!!) for 3-4 sessions and no pinkness, so I go to 12 minutes for 3-4 sessions then 13 minutes for 3-4 session... no pinkness before I add a minute.
Results, darker, deeper, longer lasting clour and far more benefit from the healthy beneficial effects of sunlight... AND NO BURN !!!!

CAREFULLY CONTROLLED MODERATION... THE SMART TAN !!!!

In Austrailia they "recognize" that a type 4 MED is actually bigger than a type 2 MED.

So they say it is 450 J/mē Eeff rather than the puny FDA MED of 156 J/mē Eeff.

BUT - in AU they only "allow" you 0.9 MED or 405 J/mē.
The FDA allows (4) 156 MEDs or 624 J/mē.

Neither actually is "strong" enough for a true type 4.

I hear ya Mori .By why do people buy beds with 7 min. exposure times when they will not produce in 7 min.If the salon which would service you hadonly 7 min.beds your skin type you would have to find a salon with better equip. Not meant to be slam but 7 min. in almost any bed will never bring customer satisfaction.I would have to say a large number of people using 7 min. beds are stretching the exp. time illegally.

Hey t-n-t,
I am just trying to make sure I purchase a quality bed. I think some bed companys lower the max exposure for marketing reasons and not for the actual uv output of beds. I bought a bed once and you could tan in it for an hour and not get any color.... NEVER AGAIN
