I have an old Sperti Del Sol tanning lamp, just for the face. The bulb is a tube, with the name UV-93.

The back says it was manufactured August 1999.
It also states 120 volt 50/60 HZ. 800 WATTS...

IS this lamp alright???
How much UVA/UVB is it throwing out?

is it like the bulbs in the facials in the other new tanning beds?

I always wanted to know about this, but have forgoten to ask the question....
thanks

Melty

It puts out low UVA, high UVB and MED/hr. Usually has short egg timer, and recommended distance of about 15". Call Sperti if you don't have instruction sheet. (800) 544-3757. Be sure to use eyewear,

Regular HP facials are the opposite: High UVA, low UVB and MED/hr. Both the lamps and filter glass create a different SPD than Sperti.

SO this is a "BURNING" lamp right?
Would it be alright to use it occasionally?

It would only burn if you overexpose or get too close. Of course UVB is the erythemal wavelengths, so exceeding time could cause reddening quicker than with bed facials.

As Ask Don might say, there would be less room for error between time to tan vs time to burn.

You need to get IST vs Te recommended Type 2 skin schedules from Sperti to know what you're doing. Don't guess.
