Hello, I'm trying to find out what are the best bulbs for a 20 min. bed. Right now I have two different kind of 20 min Bulbs. I have the
Real sun xxx-F71 and Goldlariam S Plus-F71. They tan well but I'm looking for a bulb that will give a darker tan.
P.S. They say the Goldlariam S Plus-F71 is rated at a thousand hours. Does anyone know when is a good time to change them? I was thinking about 600 hours.
Thanks for your help,

A few lamps are rated at 1000 hours but rarely will they perform well at that age. About 600-700 hours is a good time to switch. You would be well served to purchase a UV meter and measure the output new and at regular intervals afterward. That is the best way to know when to change lamps out.
As far as 20 minute lamps go, I've had good success with Everglo by Wolff, and Velocity by Australia Gold. They are a bit more expensive but the quality is there. I'm now considering moving to Philips lamps, based on discussions I've seen here in the last few months. They are supposed to be a good performer, with a low UVB content, and run 20% cooler than most lamps.

I have tried several different lamps in my 100w beds. I just bought Black Sun through Big Dog. I put these in one bed and my standup. They are doing a great job! When I relamp again I will use them in all beds.

The advantage lamp has a little more UVA when compared to the Black Sun of similar type. Both lamps use filament guards. The advantage lamp does not run as hot (temperature). They have similar life (advantage compared to infinity series)
The Black Sun is made By light sources just like most private labels. The pricing on the advantage is better.
Both lamps are good products but Philips is the worlds largest lighting manufacturer and has the most advanced systems availiable.Their compatability is correct and their pricing is good.

Lampman,
Sounds like you know my lamp very well. I have not had the pleasure of tanning with yours, the Advantage. Why don't we both send a set of lamps to Mitzi and let her report the results back here?

I will take the job at hand. I will be fair and let my customers decide along with me and my employees. All my base level beds are exactly alike and will be a good comparison. Just let me know guys. I will need 26 lamps of each for two beds.

Oh and one more thing. I new acrylics for two beds that I have not installed yet, so I will wait to use these with the lamp comparison if you choose to do so.

I'll tell you what. Send me a set of each and I'll gladly do the comparison and report back here. I really like that idea. What lamp do you want to send?? 100 W or 160W reflectors?? I have beds that can use either.
