Power surge fried 2 Ergo 450's

Saturday morning the entire city had a 10 second power surge of some sort. Now 2 of my Ergoline 450's are down. T-max timers are up with power. Voltage meter says the bed is recieving power but the timers IN the bed have nothing on display. Been on the phone with tech support with Ergoline a lot.....no help so far. We were told to pull the power board on a bad 450 and put it in one that was working. That bed (the one that was working) did not work with the power board from a bed that was down. BUT NOW........after putting the "good" power board back in the bed that was working fine....IT IS DOWN NOW TOO!! So, out of my 4 Ergo 450's, I only have one that works. Anything you guys can think of would be great. So, the beds are so messed up that are killing perfectly fine power boards???

The intelletan is fine. Ergoline sent out a tech yesterday. He worked on one of the beds for 4 hours. He had another appt in Tulsa and left to go there. We are hoping he makes it back tomorrow. So all 3 of the beds are still down. As of now, the power boards and the transformers are shot.

I hope the city covers the expenses. If it was a problem at a transformer station or the power plant the usually do. Been through this before. Sux. Hope you get back up fast!

Re: Power surge fried 2 Ergo 450's

Start from the wall plug if it plugs in. Measure the voltage on each leg of the plug. If the voltages are good, then it could very well be a ground issue or something within the circuit drawing too much current on the bed itself, but not enough to trip the breaker. Saw this happen on a dishwasher, the neutral was shorted to ground, but it still ran until it finally burned out the controller.

Re: Power surge fried 2 Ergo 450's

Beds are STILL down. Ergoline's tech is stuck in Tulsa. He had the transformers sent overnite to him, so he sent them overnite to us. We are suppose to get them today. My husband is going to put them in today. Nor my husband or the tech think the transformers are the only problem. But it is a starting point.....5 days later. :( Of course my 450's are my most popular bed so it has been a nightmare moving everyone around to different beds. I guess Im just grateful it happened now and and not 6 weeks ago.

Parts came today. We put in a new powerboard and a new transformer in one of the beds and nothing. Tech said he would be here as soon as he could.

Thanks guys for your help! Unity, we called the electric company to see about any financial help, and it looks like they are going to step up and help pay the cost. Thank you soooo much for mentioning that. Also, Ergoline has a tech on his way that should be here at around 1:30.

Thats great to hear. Something like this was not your fault. Your insurance might cover it, but at what additional cost?

BTW, if you hit a pothole in the city and damage your vehicle, call the city attorney first. They are likely to cove it of you provide a couple estimates.
