Fans go on and off
I have a Sunvision pro 24sf tanning bed and just installed new bulbs and starters. Before installing them everything worked great, but as soon as I installed them the fans will now go on and off. When I turn it on sometimes the fans start and sometimes it takes a minute, but once they come on it will go off again and back on. What could cause this? Do I need to replace the fans? (They were working fine before the new bulbs and starters). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fans go on and off
Look for a loose wire. I have a bed that uses 2 wires that plug into the wall. One is a 110v and one is a 220v. (or whatever) The fan cord was loose and everytime you close the bed cover they shut off. Then when you open the bed they went on. Figured out it was the wire would disconnect slightly when the bed was closed and reconnected when it opened.
Has to be something stupid like that.

Re: Fans go on and off
Thanks for the quick response. I have 2 wires on the back of the tanning bed, 1 is the power cord and the other I have no idea what it goes to, but it does seem to be loose, I moved it around and it seems as that might be the problem. It works but then I close the lid and it might go off but if I move it again it comes back on and stays on. Could this be the fan wire and can it be tightened up? It seems to be attached to the tanning bed.

Re: Fans go on and off
Check the timer. The twist timer in those beds also control the fans. Could also be a bad connection in the top as that is where all of the power is distributed from. It is not the fans themselves.

Re: Fans go on and off
when I say loose I just mean a can move it and it seems like it should be tighter, The loose wire is attached to the bed so I don't know how to fix that. I have never taken one apart before just to change the bulbs.

Re: Fans go on and off
Is there a way to fix the wire. It is attached to the back of the lid and on the bottom part of the bed. The bottom you might be able to take off but I am afraid to pull on it so I'm not sure if it is supposed to come off or not. The loose wire is the one attached to the top of the lid. Is there a way to tightened it up?
There is also something in the back of it that sticks out about 2 inches I can take this off and it has 2 prongs on it. Not sure if this is a fuse or something. It just screws in. Thanks for all the help. |
