OLD Uvalux bed....common questions PLEASSSSE
I bought an OLLLLDDDDD uvalux bed from a classified ad. Must be from the 80's.
After putting it together, we found that there was no hinge to keep the door open, and because it's a VERY heavy metal door, this is an issue. We are only going to have this bed for 1 year, so we don't want to spend the $ to get a proper hydraulic replacement hinge. We've just propped it open with the correct size heighted box and then when I tan, the box makes the door the correct height above my face. Does this sound ok? Safe? Any better ideas to get a heavy door to stay up? Also there are 2 lamps on the lid right in the middle that seem to be not as bright, almost like 50% bright. Does this mean they are burnt out, or have no UV left? I always thought that the lamps will never get dull, but only the UV will deminish? Is is OK to switch these lamps with ones from the side? Also, is it easy to switch lamps, do they just come out like a lightbulb? There is also dust behind my acrylic......when I pull it off to switch the lamps, can I clean behind there? Should I take ever lamp out to clean, or would you suggest only removing the lamps that I need to replace? I just don't know if removing the lamps to clean would be a bad thing or mean they might not start again once I reinstall them? Anyone know a good lamp distributer in Ontario? Sorry for all the questions, but this if my first home bed, and I am extremely nervous! |

Don't be cheap, buy a set of pistons for the bed. Only about $130.00 bucks with shipping.
You can move the lamps around. You can clean the lamps. You can clean behind the acrylic. Again, don't be cheap, buy a new set of lamps. Only around $400.00 bucks a case shipped.

LOL Brian, what is a door? It's a canopy and like Brian said buy some shocks and lamps and you will be good to go. What model Uvalux? I believe a few of the older models had automatic lifts and with one shock? Not for sure? Is it Brown?
