Prosun Lumina fan stays on

Original problem was that the bed would shut down after a couple of minutes. The breaker would need to be reset. This has been going on for awhile. Now, the cooling fan will not shut off. Could it be the cooldown timer? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

sounds more like somethings not wired just right.
When a breaker needs to be reset, take that as a warning, somethings Wrong.

Has this bed been hooked up and running for quite some time and you just started having these issues? Is it hooked to a remote timer? If so which one?

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

The bed has been up and running for 2 plus years. It is hooked up to T-max manager timer along with 3 other beds. No issues with other beds. I guess I need to see if problem is internal to the bed or a T-max timer issue...

Plug on the back of the control panel is not in all the way. This is in the top acrylic .Remove the front retainer screws and let the acrylic hang down make shure the plug on the back of the display is in all the way once in a while they will come out from people pushing on the control buttons this will cause the fans to stay on.

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

All right, here we go...

If the breaker is tripping it is either a bad breaker or the bed is pulling more current then it used to. Get an amprobe and check the current. Bad capacitors will cause it to draw more amps.

A short will also cause the breaker to trip. SO will loose connections at the breaker.

For the fans, the relay for the fans sounds like it is locked up. Smack the top of it to see if you can break the contacts loose. They may be welded shut or the time delay portion is bad and in that case it would just need to be replaced.

The T-Max is just a remote contact and has no bearing on these problems. It doesn't care if the bed is connected to it or not.

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

Thanks Brian. Previously the bed would shut down randomly and in order to get to restart breaker would need to be reset and bed would start after fan shuts down. Now fan runs constantly and bed will not start. I've checked power and all connections are OK. I checked the relay and it is opening and closing properly. According to the prosun trouble shooting guide when cooling fans run constantly replace 3 minute cooldown timer but I couldn't locate. I don't know if it is located on the control board or is internal to relay. I think its probably the timer. I'll call prosun to see if they can help when they open. Thanks again.

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

It is an all in one unit in the bottom on the drawer next to the contactor.

Re: Prosun Lumina fan stays on

Try to see if there are any frayed cables that may be causing that short. Check switches, and then anything connecting that fan to the bed, Next unplug the fan completely and try to start the bed. Can you use a multi meter?
