Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

Man-o-man what a day.

I had 2 people in beds when all of a sudden they shut off all by themselves. I go to reset the beds and then all of a sudden all the beds turned on in an instant.
I look down at the T-Maxx Manager and it's just blinking the room numbers.
I go and shut off the breakers and now all the displays on my beds and wall timers are dead.
two beds fully turn on when you switch the breakers so at least the first switch in those beds are toast.

I tested the power and it's going to the beds but the beds are dead except the 2 that turn on with the breakers.

So talking with ETS and ADI (T-Max) they think I had a power surge on the 220 source and it fried all the timers. They want $1000 for each bed timer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

The beds are nothing special
Sunstar zx30
Sunstar zx30 3F
Sunstar Super zx 44 VHO 3F
wall timers (for my standups) are the Model-3A's

So can I find these timers some where else other then ETS? $1000 for new timers for those beds is just nuts!

If anyone has any input give me a call I'm in Michigan (Rochester Hills) 248 736 0016 and my name is PJ

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

Good Idea!

Is there any way to protect these from any future power surges?

Those bed timers do not cost $1000............... tops would be $450. And it may not be your timers at all. I had the same thing happen a year ago and all it was, the small cicuit board in the back of the bed where t-max wires plug in.

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

Buy an opto-isolater from ADI. It is a surge protector for the whole line of Tmax timers.

You should just bypass the bed timers, if still possible, & use the 3A wall switches. They usually run about $89-$99 each

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

Can't bypass the bed timers on these units, it has a timer brain and key pad that need to match. You could eliminate the timer brain and keypad and install a fan delay and add a 3a to the contactor but that would be some work. ETS ran out of these a while back and now is charging customers a rediculous price for them, I've heard 1400 for the timer brain and the key pad. Put the bypass plug in the bed and try to run it manual, if the alarm goes off, check the code on the key pad and let us know what it is. If you get them fixed, sell them and buy new beds as it will happen again to them. Good Luck.

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

if you can make the beds run with the timer by pass. Buy a FST timer or a couple hundred dollars and you will fix the whole salon. instead of buying a 3A for each room at $90. and then a new manager. definately a lot cheaper and an easy system to use

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

Dude, drugs are B-A-D. What about having to run a straight shot to each room, and an FST start button panel for each room? Time + materials? Same as new boards? Is your name Hap by chance?

Re: Store wide issue (Fried Timers)

no my name is not Hap. There are several Fst timers on ebay for only a few hundred bucks, and the set up includes the wall buttons (they usually do because they are useless alone). the wire is only phone wire that you can buy at any dollar store, the most work is running the wire to the rooms, buy hey if we all are rich why even ask the question just call an electrician and repair what was there. or get the wireless system since money is no object.
