I have always been told that in states where we have more sun there are more incidents of skin cancers, but this appears not to be the case.

Re: Dermatologists fume at tanning industry claims

Im going to have to agree with the article. Im new to this site, but I have read in several articles that several of the new beds dont even emit Vitamin D. Any truth to this?

Its a touchy subject, I try to avoid it as much as possible with my clients. I dont use the benefit of Vitamin D as a sales feature for my tanning beds. I encourage responsible tanning by training my staff. I actually have a limit to the amount of time clients can tan per week in my beds! Crazy eh! But you know what, they apreciate the concern, thats why I can get away with charging more per tan. My staff are tanning consultants not just sales people.

I find it works well.

^ Stick around we'll help further educate you and teach you how to read past the bull. Spend some time in the think positive about UV forum. I think there's probably 1000 informative posts in there alone. Also memorize Sunlightscam.com's website and tanningtruth.com. :)

If your employees are tanning consultants why are they not educated about every aspect of tanning? I never stop teaching my employees about the positives of tanning, I happen to think tanning is one of the best things you can do for your health. Not burning.....just tanning.

Re: Dermatologists fume at tanning industry claims

As far as where you got your information about the new beds not putting out Vitamin D... how are they getting tan if there is no UVB in the bed? You might want to nix that source for any future information. :)

Re: Dermatologists fume at tanning industry claims

All im saying is based on a survey I have all my clients fill out while they are tanning, very rarely do I find that vitamin D is the purpose. I encourage resposible tanning. I have access to all the same information as everyone on this forum. I do judge anyones way of doing business, i just find that my way seems to work wonders.

Re: Dermatologists fume at tanning industry claims

You can check my history I don't post numbers. While you check my history you will see that I've researched the health benefits (mostly Vitamin D) for about 4 years or so on a daily basis. I've armed myself to be able to chat with any Dermatologist or Dr. that questions me. I try to teach my employees but obviously I'm so much more passionate about it then most.
