Re: Hows business in Canada
thanks guys much more info to play with.... and try to understand or visualize some kind of cycle, I looked at some stats and they were from the US, and did not match anything I could see.... almost looked like they were from texas or florida, as they got busy in the summer... almost like it was too hot to tan outside, but died on either side of that cycle. But being in Canada, I am assuming the cycles are a little different with winter holidays, grad, pre-summer vacations.
So if this pattern holds for my salon, I figure I have till about mid Nov to finish my reno's and conversion to puterization, before it gets busy or atleast busier |

Re: Hows business in Canada
It also depends on what part of Canada your looking at. Here on the coast of BC, it starts to rain nonstop from Halloween to Easter. Those are the busy months for us. It starts in Nov and continues to get busier until April and levels off for May and then June it starts to go down.

Re: Hows business in Canada
basicly March april May will be your busiest months, it will slowly decline or for some, drasticly to Sept and Oct. One of those months will be the worst. then Nov it slowly climbs back up hill till you hit the busy months again.

Re: Hows business in Canada
There is a reason you see a lot more tanning salons for sale in the Fall then in the spring.September is the slowest month then October. My August was pretty good this year compared to last year with T.O. Heat wave. This summer was not too hot or too cold.Just perfect! You definately want to open a Salon before January or you will miss some key months. The rain or snow is a killer!

Re: Hows business in Canada
so far its been ok, but so many little things to do, I actually look forward to a dead day or two just to get caught up. I am finally down to computerization, and just hoping to get everything switched over to suntouch during this last little quiet period.... after that, just need to find a nice used 44-52 lamp laydown, but I can wait till the picking is right.... patience saves money :)

Re: Hows business in Canada
I can honestly say, it has been quiet but not as quiet as last year. Our stand up booth is whats saving us right now! I also had a summer special just end thanksgiving weekend and that had customers still coming through the door through the slower months, increasing product sales. This year, we are already ahead of the game in October but it has been amazing compared to last year. But I agree July and August, quiet dependent on the weather, we get a heat wave, its better for us. September and October doesn't need to be so bad if you gear your marketing/advertising towards students cause really, they're the only ones with money at this time of year and November I have a winter special that keeps my customers comin back.. hope that helps!
