Very bad idea, SOCAN is backed by the government and can afford much better lawyers than you can.

However telling them to communicate with you only by mail is an excellent idea as you will have everything in writing.

As far as the Copyright Act is concerned, even if you do not charge admission, you play the radio for entertainment so you fall under their legislation.

It's a yearly thing based on square footage of the business. A minimum of $105.00 or so. It's not the money really, but the principle for me. It's nickel and diming.
