Question about HST - tanTALK

We have recently opened and when setting up our pricing on Tanning HST was charged on top of that price. I had a customer come in and say that the other places in town do not charge the HST.. Our prices are similar even with having all brand new equipment and cost involved in opening..

How many Salons in Canada are charging the HST on top and how many include it ?

We have an unlimited monthly for 75.00 and for now includes all the beds.

We definitely charge it, and it's added on top of our regular prices. When the tax came in last year, I left my prices the same, added a "GST extra" line on my price sheet and put a "Thanks Dalton" poster at my front desk so people knew it wasn't my fault that they were now paying more.

The other places are paying the tax too - they have to. Either they're eating it or they've included it in their pricing. Either way they still have to pay it and are therefore losing 13% of their money. That has to hurt them sooner or later and will show up as burned-out lamps, old lamps that don't tan any more, etc. People will come to you because you have newer and faster beds with all lamps working and producing good tans (right?). That will win them over.
