Restriction on Canadian Salons

How do the rest of you Canadians deal with this restriction, integrated EFT's?

I find I spend a lot of time dealing with creating systems, solutions, paper trails etc trying to manage my EFT's and client tanning privileges and taking in-store payments.

Since the software companies have swept us under the carpet for the last 5 years that its been available in the USA, Im curious if any of you have thought of things I have not.

Adam -- do you have a current software provider? There might be a solution coming to facilitate EFTs in Canada through software (and debit and credit cards)

Re: Restriction on Canadian Salons

If you setup a bank account and processing with chase manhattan (they have an office in Toronto i believe) you can process EFT's with Helios.

Otherwise if you bank with TD, CIBC, RBC or any other Canadian Bank like 99% of the population up here in Canada does...then you're SOL.

Who would have thought that Canadians would need to process EFT's like the Amurkins do. Would it be so hard to set something up with TD Bank for example which is across all of Canada on every corner? I guess so.

We always get screwed.

Re: Restriction on Canadian Salons

I have had the same problems and i researched it before i chose the software and at the time none were compatible with Canadian process because we have Debit cards and credit cards, so with Tan Track i have to do everything seperately which is bad because if someone comes in to tan they can't untill the EFT is processed but you can't process it until it clears the banks.

It's extremely frustrating and Tan Tracks software has a lot of bugs so it screws up alot as well.

Re: Restriction on Canadian Salons

Can't you set the expiration date past the posting date? You can tan people during that period. If the charge declines you than you suspend their account. This makes the daily activity seamless, you may give away a few tans but not enough to deal with the issues you are today.

Re: Restriction on Canadian Salons

Is this still a problem? Or has something been fixed.
Opening a salon and still deciding which software and which company to use to process EFTs.
What do you recommend fas the easiest combination?

Re: Restriction on Canadian Salons

TD Merchant Services offers EFT processing for cheques.

Moneris offers online EFT processing for CC info.

I haven't looked into it recently to see if one offers both yet. But Moneris can be setup for automatic withdraw every month, you can also freeze it and reactivate it whenever you'd like for specific clients. It does it all, but not for debit/bank accounts, only works on Credit Cards.

So one solution is to only do EFT's with Credit Cards.

Moneris is around $35/month + the % per transaction, just like your Credit Card processing. TD Merchant services is around $50/month (for cheques only...not worth it)
