Question Cancer Patients Tanning

I have a question about people with cancer undergoing chemotherapy... Can they tan? Is it harmful, beneficial, or none of the above? I've tried looking it up online but of course most of the results I got are from those bashing the tanning industry completely

Answers would be appreciated!!!

Re: Cancer Patients Tanning

Our clients usually stop tanning until they're done with treatment and it's at the doctors direction. Usually the doctors tell them they can resume tanning after their body has healed from chemo.

Anytime we get a question like this we'll direct them to the treating doctors. It's the right thing to do and lets your client know you care. It's not like a derm trying to attack tanning.

I respectfully decline a persons request to tan if I know they have or have had cancer.

We typically allow it if their doc says it's ok but we recommend pregnant women not tan although we understand it's low risk but will if doc says it's ok. BTW, we do have some that the docs allow to tan while pregnant and we advise on the lowest heat producing bed and ways to reduce it more.

Why? Your implying that tanning is actually the cause when you do this, which you should know by now that the only thing related to tanning that is actually known to cause cancer is over exposure.

Being deficient in Vitamin D has been proven to cause breast cancer and multiple other diseases.
