Rep Power: 35 | Ditch Unhealthy Habits http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100n...name_page.html Ditch unhealthy habits Jun 25 2007 by Our Correspondent, Western Mail As well as boosting your vitamin intake by eating more fruit and vegetables you can up your vitamin D intake simply by enjoying a little sunshine. Vitamin D is made in the skin when it reacts to sunshine. Recent research, carried out at the University of Dundee, shows that lack of sunshine in Scotland and Northern European countries could increase the risk of developing heart disease because of the lack of vitamin D. But it is still important to use a good sunscreen, as just spending time outside on a bright day is enough to give you all the vitamin D you need. So enjoy the sun safely, make sure you’re getting your five a day and keep your heart healthy this summer. |
