Rep Power: 35 | Vitamin D vindication for Fabutan President http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../13/c3947.html Vitamin D vindication for Fabutan President Statement from Doug McNabb: CALGARY, June 13 /CNW/ - In February, 2006 Fabutan and myself as president of the company were forced to reach an agreement with the Canadian Competition Bureau, a division of the Canadian government. The agreement stated that Fabutan was permitted to promote indoor tanning as a source of vitamin D and resulted in headlines across the country acknowledging the same. However, the agreement stopped there, as Fabutan was not permitted to promote vitamin D as cancer preventative unless demonstrated by a randomized controltrial peer reviewed medical or scientific journal. As a result of a landmark study conducted over a four-year period by Creighton University School of Medicine and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showing an astonishing 60 per cent reduction in cancer risk among post-menopausal women, we are feeling even further vindication. The largest randomized control trial ever performed showed a reduction in risk across all major types of cancer, including cancers of the breast, colon, and lung. Dr. Reinhold Vieth, Canada's world renowned expert on vitamin D acted on Fabutan's behalf as an expert witness and in sworn evidence stated: "For the public, tanning - whether it is lying in the sun on a summer day or under a sunlamp, especially in winter - is a pretty natural and normal way to sustain the desired 25(OH)D concentration. This does have demonstrable and desirable effects on health." More recently Dr. Vieth went on record as saying that one tanning session is equivalent to the oral intake of 10,000 IU of vitamin D3. The results of this research are very rewarding for me personally. Having the Canadian government and its unlimited resources threaten your livelihood and your right to communicate the benefits of your service to the public is not only intimidating but also incredibly frightening. With research showing that indoor tanners have 90 per cent higher vitamin D levels than non-tanners and pharmacies and health food stores running out of vitamin D because of this recent news the future looks very positive for Fabutan and the indoor tanning industry. For further information: or for an interview, contact: Carolyn Hackenberg or Tracey Warren, Fabutan Sun Tan Studios, 1-800-565-3658, or (403)640-2100 Last edited by Neon Beach; 06-13-2007 at 09:14 AM.
