Canadian researchers found that dieter’s taking calcium and vitamin D supplements reduced their risk for developing cardiovascular disease. Researchers Geneviève C Major, Francine Alarie, Jean Doré, Sakouna Phouttama, and Angelo Tremblay from Université Laval Faculty of Medicine reported their results in the January issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
The study included 63 women that had a body mass index rating of over 30. They were all put on a 15 week low-calorie diet. The assigned one group to take both calcium and a vitamin D supplement and the other group was placebo pill.

At the beginning of the study the researcher noticed that the calcium intake was on average around 700 mg. The recommended daily allowance is 1,000 mg. The researchers point out that over 50% of women do not get enough calcium.
The group that took the 1,200 mg calcium with the vitamin D had a improved their lipid levels at the end of the 15 week period. They had greater reduction of LDL “bad” cholesterol and also a better increase of HDL “good” cholesterol compared to the placebo group.
The researchers suggest that calcium and vitamin D supplements may help lower cardiovascular risk for women. They say this benefit would occur in women that are not currently eating enough calcium in their diet and is for women that are dieting. If calcium deficiency is present the researchers recommend that prescribing calcium and vitamin D supplements could help during weight loss to improve health.

Do you think he would lie to you??? Give it a try. If, after 6 months or so, daily doses haven't helped you to lose weight, well, you will know either way, right????
