Rep Power: 107 | As I mentioned in the thread (link above) three days ago, we should be forwarding this info to local media outlets and see what they do with it. I'm going to, and if they don't print it, I'll buy space and have it published as an "ad". |

Good luck. Not attacking anyone here, just venting. I apologize if my comments have hurt anyone's feelings in anyway.[ This Message was edited by: mr belvedere on 2005-05-22 13:03 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | Our Sunday paper had a big article in the Accent section titled "Controversial research finds danger in too little sun". It was written by Marilyn Marchione of the Associated Press. There is picture with the article of Dr Holick looking through a tanning bed. The article discusses the many benefits of vitamin D and draws a distincition between vitamin D-2 in pill form and D-3 which is much more potent and triggered by exposure to sun light. The article highlights Dr Holick's book the "The UV Advantage". Here are some quotes from some other cancer experts: quote from Edward Giovannucci a Harvard Professor who spoke at an American Association for Cancer Research event. "I would challenge anyone to find an area or nutrient or any factor that has such consisent anti-cancer benefits as vitamin D." Micheal Thun chief epidemiologist of the American Cancer Society "There is now intriguing evidence that vitamin D may have a role in the prevention as well as treatment of certain cancers." Sorry....couldn't find an on line link to insert a short cut. Since it is an Ap article the article could be featured in other publications. |
