Re: Adding beds to a small space advice please.

I am the first person to advise operators to make sure they are designing their business to compete in todays market. However, there are small communities that may not be able to support a full blown salon. It may be a small community that is still somewhat traditional in its businesses. If the competition in this market is a gas station with a few beds that are not maintained and you have a space that even though it is attached to a non related business, you can put in a few of the right systems and become the tanning spot in town. If a full service salon comes to town you will have a hard time competing. But I see no problem with this small venture. Make the small space very nice, maintain your equipment and market everyone in town and you will keep those beds very busy.

As far as sunsally having a motive. She sells equipment to those that are looking for equipment and stands behind her product and what is wrong with that. She gave this person good information.

This potential small tanning spot is not the problem with our industry.

If you are going to open a tanning salon large or small, just take the time to do it correctly based on your market.
